Do MTSU & FAU who replace Tulane & ECU get to join C-USA as early as of late 2013? I hope so, that way their fans can experience El Paso for the first time for the 2014 C-USA Basketball Tournaments.

Only if the waiver is permitted by the NCAA's. But I don't think it'll happen.

You probably are right, but I wish they could join right away.

My assumption would be as listed ...

CUSA 2013 EAST
Marshall \ East Carolina
FIU \ UAB
Southern Miss \ Tulane

CUSA 2013 WEST
Louisiana Tech \ North Texas
Tulsa \ Rice
UTSA \ UTEP

Old Dominion and Charlotte join for everything except football in 2013.

CUSA 2014 EAST
Marshall \ Middle Tennessee
FIU \ FAU
UAB \ Southern Miss

CUSA 2014 WEST
Louisiana Tech \ North Texas
Tulsa \ Rice
UTSA \ UTEP

Old Dominion and Charlotte join in football in 2015, pushing USM West.

CUSA 2015 EAST
Marshall \ Old Dominion
Middle Tennessee \ Charlotte
FIU \ FAU
UAB

CUSA 2015 WEST
Southern Miss
Louisiana Tech \ North Texas
Tulsa \ Rice
UTSA \ UTEP

This seems to make the most sense.

ODU is coming for 2014 but won't be bowl or championship eligible. Not sure how that is gonna work but other conferences have had odd numbers before.

It does, and that's why it probably won't happen

I do not think ODU will count in the CUSA standings in 2014. They will play 8 CUSA teams, because they needed scheduling assistance, but technically should be listed as independents by the NCAA that year. In 2015, ODU and Charlotte will be listed in the CUSA standings, and considered full members.

It's up to Belt whether or not they will let us go early or not. They may need to backfill members before letting us off the hook early. I do'nt think a buyout is the issue, just getting enough members to fill an 8 game conference schedule.

We can't say for sure. 2013 is a possibility. It will have to be negotiated with the key element of those negotiations being how quickly the Sun Belt can admit replacements. So, next year is possible with '14 assured. Bankowsky said they would take us at either point.

RE: Do MTSU & FAU get to join C-USA immediately as of late 2013?
"Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic will join the league no later than the 2014-15 season, though C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky indicated there are ongoing talks with the Sun Belt that could have them joining sooner."

Hope so, so we can welcome MTSU & FAU fans to El Paso for the 2014 C-USA Basketball Tournaments.
