Wake Forest...
Had a lot of talent, was recruiting very well but got impatient and grew obsessed with a coach's perceived shortcomings when the talent didn't perform as well as expected.

Three years after a knee-jerk coaching change they are still terrible and more irrelevant than ever.

Every Wake fan wishes they could undo that mistake but it will be years before they're good again.

True, but they've had some solid talent throughout the years. Tim Duncan and Chris Paul to name a few.

Skip Prosser signed a top ranked recruiting class but died in between seasons. His assistant, Dino Gaudio, took over; but after 3 years the much ballyhooed class finished a disappointing 5th in the ACC, so Wake canned him. The fact the class underachieved and Gaudio had no talent coming in, was the reason for the firing.
