He was always very good at recruiting Louisiana and Alabama. With State and Ole Miss starting to become somewhat relevant again, it's going to get pretty hard to recruit Mississippi, which hasn't really produced very many notable players as of late. Anderson's ability to hit Louisiana will be especially important because of Johnson at Tulane now in the Big East. He was good enough as a recruiter in C-USA, now he can throw around that BSC label.

But you gotta win as well. With the emergence of State and OM, Tulane's move to the Big East (worked wonders for USF), things are about to get difficult.

I don't know if he'll come now.. We passed over him before.. He saw what happened when you don't succeed. He leaves Fedora, fails, then what? He's only known for a few seasons at USM and a fairly decent season at UNC before falling on his face. In retrospect, he should've been the man hired.

I wouldn't be so sure. I don't think many people understand just how dead and talentless Toledo left Tulane. He has somehow made them fairly competitive in his first year (aside from the brief period where they lost their QB)

Hoping we'll know more about the buyout details--if a compromise was made or we payed full.

I'm not sure there will be much left in the bank account.

Monken would be my top choice, but I have my doubts that we could afford him now.

A lesser known coordinator or a 1-AA coach may be the way to go. So, I'd speculate that Anderson is at the top of the list.

My top three choices

1 T. Monken (OSU OC)
2. Dave Doeren (NIU coach)
3. Blake Anderson (NC OC)

I wouldn't say Brett.. Maybe as a QB coach.

Don't know why we didn't get him last year. That's our usual coaching search. "Who's the Oklahoma State OC? Call him!"

I thought Toledo was terrible. Johnson should be better than him.

It makes no difference who the coach is at Tulane, you won't win there. The vast majority of their alumni don't live in the area and could care less about athletics. They will be bottom feeders regardless of what conference they are in. They seriously considered dropping down to the FCS level just a few short years ago!!!

Curt Cignetti, current HC at Indiana University of Penn. 17-4 record the past two seasons. Previous experience at Bama, NCSU, Temple, Rice, and Pitt. I really like his combo of successful HC experience at a Div II program and assistant experience throughout FBS. I want a guy who knows how to run a program and who knows what it takes to win in FBS. Since we probably can't afford to steal a successful FBS coach, I'll take a successful Div II who also knows FBS.

As for the Coordinators, Blake Anderson (UNC OC) actually looks like a better candidate when you can see his entire resume (something I never saw last year). I also like Jay Johnson (OC at LA-La), as he knows our program and has proven he can adapt his game to the changing times.

All three of these are exciting HCs at lower division programs, but they have little to no FBS experience and that scares me.

Glad to see you fired EL! Looks like we maybe in the market for a new coach too.

How much do you'll pay? I think Dykes base was 750k and the opportunity for 100-200k in bonuses. The OC Franklin was making over 300k as well. Anyway good luck with your search.

Johnson would be a good choice. I had not even thought about him.
