BTW, Thanks JMS Tiger for putting that list together. Going to miss half of those teams on that list.

Not a knock on anyone, literally half of that list is leaving !

That nice 0-8 mark this year sure as hell doesn't help us much.

It's interesting that, despite all of the coaching changes and even turmoil at the top 4 programs, if any of us were asked in 2005 to honestly predict the top 4; Tulsa, UTEP, UAB, and Memphis are the exact programs the vast majority would have predicted. Despite everyone's peaks and valleys for all, this played out mostly like fans expected.

4. USM:             36-28 (.563)    $20,673,597 (8)        574,267 (1)
5. Marshall:         30-34 (.469)    $27,444,906 (6)        914,830 (4)
6. UTEP:             24-40 (.375)    $27,694,358 (5)        1,153,932 (6)
7. Memphis:         22-42 (.344)    $40,384,265 (2)        1,835,648 (8)
8. UAB:            21-43 (.328)    $25,690,048 (7)        1,223,336 (7)

So I took OPs updated data, and used the USA TODAY Sports' College Athletics Finances to give me the revenue in 2011. Then I figured the amount of revenue made, per win.

Private schools don't submit this data.

Not too many surprises. Of course, even with this atrocious year, USM still is getting the best bang for their buck. Memphis focus is clearly on bball and not fball.

All teams (minus Memphis/USM) are within one or two places in all three columns.

That's a great site, I use it all the time in trying to noodle through what group of programs best fit together.

I know that it's all in fun and getting 8 years of data aren't available on the site, but those averages are assuming that the revenue for one year affect football wins for 7 or 8 years, right? Using 8 years revenue numbers make each win for everyone much more expensive. Again, I know that it's all in fun, it's a rough gauge, and athletic funds go to many more sports than football.

Using this year as a base, USM spent either $20 million + per win or $0 per win depending on how you view "0" and Memphis spent $10 million per win.

Really an eye-opener for USM fans.

Shows how mediocre we've been the last seven years.

Here's to Monken getting us back on track.
