Not the start many Tiger fans were expecting.

Just glancing at the box score; Minnesota's guard (Hollins) averages 9.8 points a game, but he scored 41 today. I think that the Memphis guards might not be that good on defense.

So when does "Boy Wonder" turn into just plain "Boy" with the Memphis fans? Seems like he can recruit them, but can he coach them? It's hard to gain players respect when you spend so much time kissing their butts during the recruiting process.

It's still very early in the season and I still think Memphis is the prohibitive favorite in C-USA. But I'll bet Memphis fan still has the bitter taste of two straight "one-and-done" NCAA Tournament results.

There's irony here......Hollins is a Memphis guard. Played HS ball with Joe Jackson. He was a little pumped up.

We've got a crisis on our hands...from MT.org:

"freaking pitiful"

"There are teams in CUSA that are better than Minnesota..."

"Josh couldn't manage a hot dog stand."

"CJP is dead to me"

"I can't even work up the nerve to be angry or disappointed. I just feel sorry for the team."

Yeah, but I have been saying that about Pastner for two years now; but the Memphis posters get mad at me for saying it.

I'm going to miss the shattered expectations, the crashing to earth and all the drama when they're gone.

Maybe, but that was subjective. Pastner has still won a lot of games and there was/still is hope that his coaching would get better. I don't how it was fair to cast an assumption on Pastner so early in his career, especially considering his experience level.

It wasn't an assumption. A lot of us just saw early on that the Memphis job was above his level of competence. He probably will be a good coach in time, but he wasn't ready and it showed early in his team's preparation.

I still think there is potential to become a better coach in time as well, but he needs to figure out his system and find players that fit into his system. Right now he has no system.

I think Memphis fans should wait on being critical about Pastner... Well, at least until he's old enough to drive
