I like what we did in the second half vs. Oklahoma.

Once we get our PG in December, I have a feeling we will be just fine... And will compete for the conf title.

We will need to tighten up, but nothing that can't be fixed.

RE: I'm still feeling good about the Miners....
It was frustrating to watch Oklahoma take a 15-0 lead as if the Miners couldn't score at all. Cut the lead to within four points in the final minutes but couldn't capitalize on that moment at all, kind of how the football team has been playing all year.

I know it's early but I just hope they get it together.

On this site, I have been saying it for awhile. We are building something truly special but it isn't going to be complete this year. I don't think it will be even be complete next season. It's going to be built though. Right now, it's Streeter, Bo, and a bunch of really young kids. It's going to take time.

Not sure what to think about this season but I believe next season is THE season!

I agree. Bohannon's regression, losing Perez, and youth, will make this a learning season. But not unrealistic to have a winning season at 16-17 wins.

Another "learning" season. Wonderful. So now we have poor football AND poor basketball. Great.

I know Floyd is a good coach and is recruiting like gangbusters but the coaching really seems to be lacking right now.

I'm glad you are the one who said it and not me.

The problem with Tim Floyd is that he is a disciple of Don Haskins who preached defense.

Based on how much trouble they had scoring, I'm willing to bet that Floyd spends the majority of time working on defense just like Haskins did.

The problem is that today's basketball player just wants to score.

It's a difficult adjustment for these players to be told that they suddenly have to play defense. They have to completely change their game.

It takes at least a season for them to understand how Floyd wants them to play.

I watched him take Barbies flying high circus and turn it into a silent movie.

Difficult to watch.

Mr UTEP fan... It's Barbee, not Barbie.

If you want to watch a circus, Barnum and Bailey will be here soon enough. I like my teams with defense. Butler exposed one of our most talented team's lack of defense.

THAT was difficult to watch.

You are absolutely right. If Barbee had one draw back, it was that he wasn't a very good coach at adjusting when the other team figured them out.

There's the rub.

Barbee's teams were usually more talented than their opponents.

Haskins or Floyd teams typically are more defensive minded.

It'a a mater of preference.

Some fans like defense and some like offense.

I preferred to watch Barbee type teams that typically beat lesser opponents because they were simply more talented than the other guy.

Then NMSU is the perfect team for you.

As a matter of fact, I plan to go to the game tonight. It will be interesting to contrast the two coaching styles.

You can count on a report tomorrow.
