GSU 62 vs Monmouth 49
http://www.georgiastatesports.com/ViewAr...M_ID=12700

Quote:ATLANTA—Devonta White scored 16 points and James Vincent tied the school record with nine blocked shots as Georgia State defeated Monmouth, 62-49, Monday at the GSU Sports Arena on day one of the Coaches vs. Cancer Atlanta Subregional.
R.J. Hunter added 14 points and five rebounds for the Panthers in their home opener.
Vincent, who also had five points and eight rebounds, tied the GSU record originally set by Sylvester Morgan against Mercer on Jan. 23, 2005. As a team, the Panthers finished with 13 blocks, one off the school record of 14 set last season versus FIU.
Georgia State improved to 1-2 and won its second straight home opener under head coach Ron Hunter.
“Our defense carried us tonight,” commented Hunter. “We were able to force 19 turnovers which I am happy about, but I am extremely disappointed with our team having 21 turnovers and too many missed free throws. We have to clean that up if we want to be a great team.
“I am really proud of James. He played extremely well tonight. When he plays with that type of effort, he can be one of the best big men around. James played like a senior tonight and I commend him for it.”
The Panthers shot 51 percent from the field while holding Monmouth to 27.8 percent as the Hawks managed just 15 of 54 from the field.
Andrew Nicholas led Monmouth (1-3) with 10 points, while Ed Waite added a team high nine rebounds.
GSU led 30-23 at the half and then scored the first eight points of the second half to build a 15-point advantage. The Panthers built their largest lead of 17 points at 51-34 on a pair of free throws by Manny Atkins at the 11:00 mark.
Leading 51-38 with seven minutes left, Georgia State held the Hawks without a field goal for a six-minute stretch. Monmouth managed only six field goals in the second half.
Sophomore Cameron Solomon came off the bench to score eight points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. Junior Rashaad Richardson added nine points on 4-of-5 shooting.
In Monday’s early game, Tennessee State defeated South Alabama, 67-58.

You need to rent that empty space above your shoulders and do something useful with it.

If your program has an image of being a loser then don't be surprised by these type of reactions.

Our MBB was 22-12 last year and made the CIT. Research is not hard.

Neither is common sense although it is abundently absent.

I had never heard of GSU before your school's unfortunate invite. I also couldn't care less about your school. You know all about that though with your attendance numbers.

No body cares about that school, that is what the attendance numbers say. Benson should have been fired on the spot when he sold that pile of crap to be admitted into the conference. Not sure how the other schools signed off on it. Must have been a heck of a sales pitch.

You need to worry about your own losing season and low attendance numbers.

And I still have nightmares about it. Will be getting a little basketball relief tomorrow.

I don't have to worry about mine, we have signs of life, we were competetive with everyone we played and didn't get embarrassed by anyone. The most points we gave up all season was 38, and that was to ULM. And that was after playing NC State and Miss St.

Ga St on the other hand, gave up 50+ 3 times, 40+ 2 times, and only had 1 win.

I think I'll keep my Jags, and keep giving you grief about it.05-stirthepot

That's funny since used to play you in basketball pretty regularly. LOL.

Its funny to hear people talking as if this is the Big 10 or SEC.

You're right that is funny. Really shows how insignificant and easily forgettable your school is...

What is actually funny is you running your mouth around here giving the FCS fans **** because they are FCS. Yet, here in reality, you are not playing with the big boys yet.

What's really funny is when a USA fan keeps giving other schools a hard time when the Jags have winning and attendance problems of their own. It's like you're arguing about whose sh*t stinks worse. Yes our sh*t reeks right now, but so does yours.

We averaged over 16k per game, your school over 12k per game. We at least made the FBS requirements. Your totals will go up next season coming into the SBC, but I don't see a huge improvement coming your way.

This thread is stupid. You'd have thought the current members of the conference we're moving to would be happy we're winning.
