For what it's worth, everyone who has gone to the GMac/Go Daddy have raved about the experience and I've heard a lot of positive things about Boise.

Detroit, not so much.

With the # of required ticket sales, i think the team and travel party has a 3-5 min stay in bowl city. To transport, house and feed another 100-200 band members is a huge financial undertaking. I agree 100% that the band is great and definitely adds to the atomsphere but were already going to loss our a$$ on this thing and we arent exactly flush with cash. Tough call for the athletic dept. Have to be fiscally responsible but this event hasnt happend in 40 years???

Rich alums time to open to pocket books. BCS football $$ doesnt grow on trees. Maybe Obama will pay for it05-stirthepot

I don't think the bowl in Boise requires a minimum # of tickets. Not sure about the other MAC bowls. That's why NIU came out a little ahead when we went there in 2010. Don't know if the band went though.

Our band has been to every bowl game NIU has played. Money is tight everywhere, but our President Peters believes it is THAT important for the band to be there.
I Hope Kent finds a way for the band to be at your bowl game.

Your band will be there, they are actually playing the National Anthem. Your director has been in contact with our director all week. They'll be practicing on the Field when we (HMB) arrive.

Agree on the expense with the exception of Miami. If we go to a BCS bowl, we can afford to send the band.

danny, are you saying we won't win tonight and won't go to the Pizza Bowl? I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but I want to make sure I understand that if we win we WILL go to a BCS or Pizza, if we lose, we go to Mobile. Correct??

As far as the band, I can see your point on money. But I'm sure Kent is not the poorest school that is bowl eligible in the country. Does this mean OU, BG, Toledo (all state schools in Ohio that are bowl eligible) will also keep their band home?

I'm not going to rehash things, but I'm looking for ideas. Whatever happens this year is going to happen. I'm thinking of next year. We have always had an alumni band that supported our marching band during the worst of times. Our alumni are very supportive. With next year having a higher likelihood of going to a BCS game, from the current viewpoint, how can we fund raise to make sure next year we aren't the only school that does not bring a band to the bowl game?

I don't understand why you would have a band if you don't intend to support it.

Detroit, not so much.

The GoDaddy Bowl was an awesome experience back in 2005. The parade the night before with both schools has a New Orleans feel to it, plus the bars/ clubs close really late as well. 04-cheers

Did you know that Kent has eliminated its band twice?
