Memo, the NO Bowl doesn't have to take the SBC Champion again this year if they are placed in a bowl first.

it's 2 out of 4 years they have to have the conference champion

I think if they take a co-champion that satisfies the conference champion criteria.

Yep. Any team that ties for the championship is considered to be a Champion in the Sun Belt, regardless of tie-breakers and head-to-head.

But the problem is that there will be only 1 outright champ again this season...sAte!05-stirthepot
I don't think we're going to NO, though that would be my 2nd choice behind Liberty.

We will definitely be the underdog at stAte. I'm not expecting us to win that one, but the pigskin bounces funny sometimes 04-cheers

Highly doubt ulm is in Shreveport

Gotta agree with this. With LA Tech now completely out of the BC$ picture, the I-Bowl will snatch up LA Tech to guarantee more ticket sales.

ULM would bring a lot of ticket sales to Shreveport as well. I think ULM ends up in Indy Bowl. I think LA Tech ends up in either Heart of Dallas or Liberty Bowl. Liberty Bowl if we win next week and HOD if we lose. Liberty Bowl was at our last two home games. Anyway this is an SBC board, so I will end with saying I firmly believe ULM will be in Indy Bowl playing an ACC team like Duke, which should be a winnable game for the Warhawks.

I don't think you'll be in the Liberty Bowl.

Liberty bowl has been at our last two games as well. I think Independence will get you guys, and we'll get Liberty if its open. We can guarantee a lot more ticket sales than you can for Memphis.

Well duh. Yall are gonna lose to us, so stAte will be favored...that's a given.

RE: Championship and Bowl Scenarios
While a Tech versus ULM/ULL matchup would probably sell lots of tickets for either the New Orleans Bowl or the Indy Bowl, it would draw a terrible television audience.

The average football fan does not know or care about the rivalry or lack there of between the schools. ESPN would not be pleased with low television ratings therefore they will push the bowl committees to make a different selection.

Couldn't be worse than the last time Tech went to the IBowl. Tech v. Northern Illinois was one of the worst bowls for TV ratings of all times.

Exactly. The Indy Bowl cares about ticket sales. The hotels may not like it but the the Bowl would love it. And while it may be a "regional" game, the story line would be a helluva lot better than a lot of other bowls out there. Tech as the number one offense in the nation vs either ULL or ULM. ULM who got tons of press with the win over Ark and going toe to toe with Auburn and Baylor (same Baylor who just destroyed the #1 team in the nation). ULL heading to their second straight bowl. A great performance and exciting game last year, that was seen by a heck of a lot more folks than Tech and Northern Ill. Same ULL that took #6 Florida to the wire.

Nah....couldn't sell that at all!!

Problem is that Independence, like Liberty isn't inviting any of those gross little local teams until the door slams on other options. The Big XII will have one or two spare teams if Baylor and WVU win another game each and no WAC/Sun Belt is getting an invite until the leftover Baylor or Iowa State team is placed.
