I dunno. I'd say if we're not winning 3-4 years from now, we're in trouble. We HAVE to have improvement next year. I would say at least 6 wins but that might be overly optimistic.

But, hey, I could be wrong. I hope so.

I'm sick of some of you idiots who think UAB football will just die... I've sat through season after season of Watson Brown and Neil Callaway football to know that, if football was going to be cut, it would have been cut several years ago.

If you want UAB football to be more successful, you will just have to open your pocketbook, quit complaining Nancy, and help Coach McGee (or any other coach for that matter) get better practice facilities and hire more experienced assistant coaches.

And I sat on both sides of the stadium on Saturday... there were several thousand fans in attendance, but most left near the end of the 3rd qtr like I did... I wouldn't subject my family to the torture of watching those blue-clad imbeciles take OUR trophy out of that endzone.

PREACH!

The two people I have season tickets with left at halftime and I don't blame them. I went back out to our tailgate with them and went back in with my extra ticket for the second half. I don't think I've ever been more disgusted at a football game(I wasn't at Tulane last year). However, I'm not giving up on this program. It will take time to change the culture of this program, unfortunately Saturday was a huge step back. Wins will make for better attendance, that's the way it is. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed about Saturday. Truth be told, I was extremely disappointed. I thought we had a good chance to win our last two games and carry some momentum into next season. On a positive note, at least it took me until the last home game to get burnt out on football as opposed to last year when I was burnt out by game 2.

RE: So this is how it ends
UAB suffers from the same location related malaise in terms of attendance that many urban schools have. Note the following of NYU in the "Big Apple", the schools in San Francisco, Washington, DC, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego or Denver. That is why pro football went to these cities, taking advantage of the lack of collegiate competition in the early years. It may also answer why the NFL seems to be in no hurry to return a team to Los Angeles.

Yes, UAB has a substantial challenge in front of them and winning is an important factor in that future. Just as education requires a triad of teacher, parent and financial support to be successful, UAB needs coaches (who are good teachers), infrastructure (facilities) from "parents" and financial support in large helpings (from winning) to get where it wants to go. The student / player in both scenarios will respond positively if the other components are there.

BTW, It is not coincidence that the national BCS competition is narrowing down to the same half dozen wealthiest schools that dominate every year.

Nice slant. I stayed to the bitter end andincreased my donations this year. We all need to step it up. UAB is here to stay. Lets not give our enemies any more ammo.
