The ONLY difference in the two teams on the field yesterday was that where Arkansas State was making TDs in the Redzone, we were making FGs.
Ark St. - 4 for 4 in the Redzone, all 4 were TDs.
Troy - 5 for 6 in the Redzone, 1 fumble, 1 TD, 4 FGs.
FOUR field goals?!? Really? And 2 field goals were from the ONE yard line lol... Make two of the 4 field goals a TD and we would have won.
Have you guys started questioning Blakeny for kicking two seperate field goals on Fourth and Goal at the 1 yet?
It really made no sense to me considering he had to know you guys were not going to stop us very often.
I was....Also questioned why we kicked back to you guys instead of an onside kick with 3mins left in the game...
We only stopped ASU what 2-3 times the entire game?
We punted twice, missed one field goal, and Aplin threw a pick 6. 4 times. Once in the 2nd half.
ASU is one of the worst 4th down defense teams in the country I believe. At one point we were allowing 90 percent of 4th downs to be converted. I know it got better last week against ULM, but still. It did not make any sense to me for Troy to kick a FG on 4th and Goal at the 1 up 14-13 for example. And I probably would have gone for it as well on Fourth and Goal down 20-17 to open the 2nd half.
I fully believe that kicking a FG on the 1 yard line is a victory for the defense. The 2nd FG effectively helped change the momentum of the game. If Troy fails to score on 4th down there, we have it at our own 1 up 3, with the worst punting unt imaginable. Instead Troy played for the tie, and we returned the ensuing kickoff the midfield and scored 2 plays later.
Giving Ryan Aplin the ball at midfield is pretty much giving up free points. We changed the entire game in those two plays.

For the record, I am watching the replay now...that 2nd personal foul on Troy for the hit in the end zone was a legit penalty. He left his feet and made contact in the head or neck area of a receiever. That would probably get you a fine in the NFL.
Our ejection was correct as well...stupid mistake.

I suspect a large amount of those penalties were due to the refs not getting the game under control, and letting the pushing and shoving to continue.
