Explanation?

There isn't anywhere to tailgate at. Unless you're going in an empty lot or parking garage.

There are a few lots if you look at Google maps. Don't know if they'd be open. I've never seen any tailgating at macc in the past 2 yrs.

OK that's disappointing, but thanks for giving us a heads up. Any cool bars you would recommend around the stadium as it seems like you are somewhat familiar with the layout??

Most NIU fans will be at cheli's chili bar before the game. Its about 1.5 blocks from ff. Not too familiar but dtown Detroit basically shuts down unless there is a hockey game or lions game on weekends. The hotel bar at Marriott isn't bad but is expensive. Sorry I can't be more help. Best of luck on 11/30. I'll be rooting for cardinal and black

The Hockeytown Cafe is a good restaurant/bar, and its right next to the stadium

If we don't take the Bus, our group will be there before the game

As someone who lived in Detroit for 11 years, I would be happy to answer any questions my fellow Golden Flashes have! For food, I have to recommend Lafeyette Coney Island!

That sounds pretty cool, as long as Redwingers don't mind sharing space with the Flash Folk! You'll have to let me know if you ditch the bus.

Jim, that's great to know, how far away is this restaurant from Ford Field??

I just saw a post on facebook that student tickets are SOLD OUT. Don't know how much of that will fill up Ford Field, but that makes me glad that our students will turn out.

Yep. I enjoy Lafeyette, but next door there is American Coney another great place. People should not worry as Downtown Detroit is not a war zone the media makes it to be. Similar to Cleveland really. Greektown has a lot of chain restaurants next to the casino. Elwood Bar and Grill is the closest bar to Ford Field (Between Comerica and Ford Field). Detroit Beer Company, Hockeytown and Cheli's bar are all real close as well.

If you have some time Nemo's near the old Tiger stadium is a must. They usually have bus for the bigger events, not sure the MAC game will qualify though.

RE: Role Call for Detroit
Hey guys I just woke up from a very crazy dream. In it Kent was 10-1 in football AND MAC East Champs, our coach was a semifinalist for Coach of the Year award, Kent had 2 1000 yard running backs and to top it all off they were ranked #23 in the BCS with a chance to go to a BCS game. If that wasn't crazy enough Maryland and Rutgers accepted invitations to the B1G. I am glad I woke up I don't think with brain could think up any more crazy possibilities.

It's a little less than a mile away from the stadium. When you look up "Hole-in-The-Wall" restaurant in the dictionary, there is a picture of Lafayette Coney Island next to it!
