So how can you use AM as an argument to replace DC?
His production was already accounted for.
I'm saying that had TF kept AM, they would have won the championship and gone to the big dance. They didn't.
You see, I supported Tim Floyd until he ruined that team. '
We could have had back to back CUSA championships at a time when CUSA was still a decent basketball conference.
We will never see that again.
So you can see why I turned my back on Tim Floyd. He took a very good team and made it all about him.
Most coaches let their players play the same way they were taught and not try and change their style.
Tim Floyd didn't do that. He had to try and change the way they played and he cheated his team and the fans out of a chance for back to back titles.
That kind of thing doesn't happen alot.
Some of the worst reasoning ever... But I see who you are now; just someone wanting to always be bitchin about something. A true pessimist.
On the contrary. Given the talent on that team, the returning players, and predictions, all Tim Floyd had to do was show up and that team was going to win the championship.
Therefore I was very optimistic.
Tim Floyd however changed the make up of that team and screwed up big time.

Wrong. He showed up. DC went to the NBA. AM ran away. Coach Floyd inherited a championship team minus two key parts.
It is common knowledge, and most would agree, that if you lose two key parts, you can not be expected to repeat the previous season's success.

the only presence we had inside when floyd took over was Williams. Dante and the rest played in the back court.

From what I was told, AM did not run away. He was strongly encouraged to go to another school.
Also, you still haven't told me whether or not UTEP was predicted to win the conference.

Did I say I was going to provide that info? I don't recall doing so. Regardless, I believe they were picked to finish 3rd.

No. You never said that you were going to provide that information.
As a matter of fact, I looked it up and at least two ESPN experts picked UTEP to win CUSA
Doug Gottlieb and Fran Fraschilla in 2010.

You never heard of Slam? It's common knowledge, and most would agree, they are an authority in basketball.

No I'm not familiar with "Slam". Thanks for the information.
The fact remains however that UTEP was picked to win CUSA by some experts.

I don't think that is actually a knowable fact. Regardless, I wasn't suggesting that more experts picked UTEP in 2010 than any other team. I was simply pointing out that they were predicted to win the conference in that year.
If they were predicted to win the conference ( and they were) and they didn't, then it is reasonable to say that the underachieved.

Most experts agreed that UTEP would finish 3rd. So the rest of your argument is moot.

We have no way of knowing how many "experts" picked UTEP to finish 1st or 3rd.
The fact that at least two, well known, ESPN analysts picked them to finish first tells me that UTEP had enough talent to win the conference and go to the big dance.
They did neither under St. Floyd.
Therefore, IMHO they underachieved.

The fact that at least four, well known, online analysts picked them to finish lower tells me that UTEP had enough talent to finish right about where they did.
Therefore, they did just about what they were expected to.
It is common knowledge, and most would agree, since DC went to the NBA and AM ran away, UTEP was never expected to win the conference and go to the big dance.

RE: we landed hamilton!!!
let me put it this way, Memphis was ranked in the top 10 or 15 in the nation to start that season, and UTEP was not even ranked... How can you believe your own statements?

Understood.
However, considering the fact that some analysts still picked them to win the conference even without AM and DC, that tells me that with AM, they would have won the conference and gone to the big dance.
Because Floyd and AM could not see eye to eye ( and I've been told that basically, Floyd didn't want AM) UTEP did not achieve what they could have achieved.
I blame Floyd for that.

I had a hard on for Floyd until he ruined my team.
You have to understand that I loved that championship team. When they got Floyd, I thought there was nothing stopping us from winning back to back Championships. I honestly expected that team to make it to the Sweet 16 at least.
Then the season started and I slowly started to watch Floyd make an example out of Culpepper and Bohannon.
He would bench them for taking "bad shots" even if it meant losing the game.
That was a tough year for me and I learned to hate the guy by the end of the year.
The ECU game The Memphis game it just got worse and worse.
It's going to take a lot for me to respect and cheer for Floyd again.

Yep, a head coach should be held responsible for a troll's irresponsible expectations.
I wanted an unrealistic sweet sixteen run! I didn't get it! I'm mad now.
