Hadden, a 6-10, 220-pound post player, comes from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. While he has had to wait his turn in a competitive frontcourt rotation, Hadden opened eyes during the summer AAU season for Ohio Shining Stars. One analyst described Hadden as a huge find for Belmont, praising the post player's skill, footwork and motor.
"Tyler possesses the skill set that we look for in a 5 man," Byrd said. "He has a great scoring touch inside, but can also face up and shoot it beyond the three-point line. He has made dramatic improvement over the past year and works very hard at his game. He will be needed next season as we lose Trevor Noack."
St. Xavier is currently 8-1 on the season. Tyler’s scoring has been limited. However, in a tournament in DC recently, Tyler scored 21 points (including 4-6 from 3-point) and had 8 rebounds. I’m glad to see that he does have the offensive potential.
At 6-10, he is a solid 3-point shooter. He usually doesn’t shoot this many in a game, but his percentage made has been strong all year.
Tyler’s St. Xavier team is currently 11-4 on the season. The team has very balanced scoring with the top 4 scorers within 3 points of one another. I can’t tell if Tyler is a longer term project. At 6-10, I would expect him to dominate some teams. But, he’s averaging a moderate 7.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. They play tonight against Purcell which is struggling this year.
