RE: Big Ben has potentially fatal rib injury
Well that's about the worst news ever.

I wonder what they do for that? A quick speculation is that removal could be an option but of course I'm not a doctor and really have no idea. I was under the assumption that broken ribs are generally not repaired but rather just kind of let to heal on their own. I guess it depends on the break.

I can't see the Steelers going anywhere without Ben. This will be a long rest of the season, it seems. And of course it goes without saying that his health comes first and that I hope he heals completely and can continue to do the things he loves in life.

I think he may be out for the season. Well, we haven't had a losing season for years... the last time we did, we drafted Ben.

It's hard to imagine he'll play with a potentially fatal issue. Still - the question is can this really ever be fixed? Ribs seem to be a funny thing.

Also, it's really scary that they just noticed this because of scans done on his shoulder. I'm not saying that because anyone is at fault or anything but man - that's a scary thing to not know you have. Thank God he didn't get hit in the ribs in just the right way when he was playing or we may have had a football fatality.
