for all the bartow supporters (swva), please please read the article briun posted.

http://www.nooga.com/154841/quinn-belmon...uity-wins/

it is the exact opposite of the approach bartow takes and is exaclty why they own us.

thanks for posting bruin. boooooo belmont

What is really funny is that if you look at the related articles links in the upper right you will see this one.

http://www.nooga.com/155448/trey-brown-t...y-college/

I love this quote.
(very last line)

Quote:Brown is the first Moc to transfer out of the program since Ridge McKeither (Alcorn State), Jasper Williams (Hampton), and Dante Harvey (Shorter University) all left in the 2010 offseason.[/quote]

highlighted the parts I found amusing.

Wow 2 seasons since they lost somebody (of course it was 3 players) give them a gold star and a cookie.

shulman has tried the murray "quick fix" method instead of building his team up from the roots. they have had chemistry problems since he has been there. it should have cost him his job twice already. it probably will this year i am afraid.

UTC had 5 seniors and won about 6 or 7 conference games.. bet they wish some of those guys would have left early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UTC has for the past 30 plus years has built their program around Jucos and transfers.. John is trying to change that and bring in more frosh.. I hope he is successful....

Anyone else find it strange that the photo release is with a huddle from the 2009-2010 season? I mean it's got Hubbard, Tubbs, and Ward in it, not to mention Coach Bailey, who hasn't been here for 3 years.

We have to remember who it is that is doing this. It is not exactly the athletic administration of UT Austin.

I'll tell you he wouldn't be if Rick Hart and some others hadn't put a policy in place basically banning Juco's at the UT-C campus for athletics. They were in APR hell when Sloan retired and Hart took over. A new academic coordinator and a few new policies later, and Shulman actually having to learn how to develop four year players.
Now that's not to say they won't take one or a transfer here or there, but they have certain things that have to be met.
They gave Kansas a fit last night. Shulman knows he's coaching for his job with a new A.D. coming in mid-late January.

This Merriweather kid only averaged 12 and 10 in highschool... not that impressive. and it didnt look like too many other programs were interested. Is this just another kid that Murry will bury on the bench and force to transfer? How about getting a pure shooter instead? Hell, even a decent perimeter shooter?!

I noticed O'Field was a 2-star recruit according to EPSN.com player rankings. Have we ever had anyone higher than a 2-star??

It's a shame that all the local talent at Science Hill or Dobyns Bennett have no desire to play basketball ETSU. Nor does ETSU even attempt to recruit any local players. SH has had 3 great players transfer in the last 2 years, of course that has to do with coaching style of Cutlip at Science Hill. I just feel like it would help improve attendance and community involvement if more of our home grown talent played on the team.

Eh no thanks. Kingsport and Johnson City aren't exactly hotbeds of basketball talent.

Is there a list of DI players from Science Hill and DB from the last 5 years? I'd love to see it.

A little more information on O'Field:
http://johnsoncitypress.com/Sports/artic...?id=103465

“This kid is super athletic, just a phenomenal athlete, and we can really use a player like him at that position,” said Bartow. “He has a great work ethic and is a humble, fun kid to be around.”

You want a Guy who played at Lees-McRae (Stevens) here?

Or was it Lynoir-Ryne (however you spell it)?

Most overrated thing around here is high school basketball.

Second most overrated thing in sports is that local players will improve attendance.

Ask Tennessee fans if they remember Manning or Matthews more fondly.

Stevens had problems that caused him to end up at Lees-McRae but he originally signed and went to Appy St. I am glad we didn't sign him because the problems he had at Appy would have probably happened here as well, but talent wise Stevens was pretty good. Wattad would have been a better choice, but he chose to go to Georgetown first and then when he transfered Mister helped Shulman land him at Chattanoga.
