Yeah, there are some QBs you can bend to. This guy wasnt one of them. Once Oliver went out we were still playing the run and giving a big cushion to a couple of slow poke receivers.

We just lost to a 2-7 team that has former Chimp as HC who they wouldn't hire at Central or Cincinatti when Kelly left either place.

This wasnt like choosing an injured Stafford over a healthy Joe Kitna, these two were about equal, except one is rusty.
You guys were praying for AC after the BallU game. At least own your words.

This season has been very disappointing.

Not just the losses, but how we lost with interceptions while driving for touchdowns.

Multiple turnovers.

I feel bad for the players. They have talent, but in many cases, forced plays both offensively and defensively.

To be honest, I think our offense stopped itself more than UB stopped them. Even though they gave up a lot of yards, I don't blame this loss on the D today.

UConn (lost by 7) Pitt (lost by seven) OU (Lost by 7) Kent (lost by 13) Georgia (lost by a lot), NIU (lost by a lot), Toledo (Lost by 5)...

Swap out Kent or OU or NIU or Toledo for EMU and we come into this game with an identical record to WMU.

If you came into this game thinking UB is a pushover you were mistaken.

Bull, you'll have to excuse Dip. Recently, when we lose, he says the winner is the worst team we've ever lost to....you took Kent's place.....give it a week and EMU will take yours.

Congrats on the win, obviously, your guys outplayed ours.

I think playing carder was a mistake, but it's one that most coaches would have made. When I saw him come out on the field I was sure we would lose, had no clue he would be so rusty.

I'm confident we could have won had we stuck with TVT. He's thrown over 300 yards in the past 3 weeks. He's only become hotter and hotter.

Yet we started Carder, who spent 6 weeks of this season without practicing. Of course he was going to be rusty. He was rusty the first couple games of the season because of a new receiver corps, injuries, etc...what makes anyone think he wouldn't be rusty now?

On that merit alone, Cubit's decision to start Carder (and keep him in the whole game!) should, and will be, the nail in his coffin.

Or his decision to start AC was one of a man who had people breathing down his back, or he was being loyal to a senior whom he wanted to get a game or two under him so the NFL could see him play, or he saw AC start to come around in practice and went with him, or.....

I don't really disagree with the choice to start Alex, because that's on the coach. But to keep him in after that performance? Ludicrous.

And what are we trying to show NFL coaches? His ability to throw 5 interceptions per game?

If I'm the coach, I'm focused on winning games. Not loyalty to certain players (also known as favoritism), or showcasing people for the NFL or whatever else...

Bull, you'll have to excuse the uninformed boobs on this board. I don't think they knew you were starting a freshmen QB with a 105 rating and 368 yards total this season. He garnered 280 in this game without having to make more than 3 difficult throws all game.

The heart of your offense is Oliver, he was gone in the first quarter. Your back up was gone before the 4th. I'd compare this game to when 1st team Defense gets to face 2nd team offense. Today, 2nd team offense won.

Some of the readers here saw "Bulls" on the Jersey and thought it was the same team that had hung for awhile with U Conn and Pitt.

Yeah, because the stadium was crawling with Bowl Scouts for our pairing with Oregon.

Licata has a rocket for an arm, the only reason he was not starting is because Quinn is in love with the read option and Zordich is a far better runner.

Last week, against Miami in his first start, he was 13 for 24 picking up 127 yards and two touchdowns. In sort with Licata we have a passing threat with Zordich we did not.

To be fair Campbell is averaging more than 100 per games where he gets more than six carries.

But if you want me to twist the dagger a bit Campbell is actually our 3rd back (we lost #2 for the year against Morgan state).

Ummm Campbell was the starter against Pitt 03-wink.

4th, actually. Going into the season the depth chart was:

1. Branden Oliver
2A. James Potts
2B. Anthone Taylor
4. Devin Campbell
5. Brandon Murie

I think we lost Anthone Taylor for the year before the season, lost Potts to a knee injury early in the season, and Oliver has been in and out with ankle injuries. Campbell now has a back injury and I sincerely doubt he will be returning.

It was a really disappointing game. It gets wearying to be a Bronco fb fan, year after year after year.

On the other hand, it could be worse ... you could be Iowa fans, too. Mr. Whinny had been pondering which methods of suicide would be the easiest. And then I saw the BTN ad for Hawkeye BASKETBALL on Monday night, so I'll stick around for awhile longer. :-)

I totally agree. In fact, prior to the game I was thinking "These guys are probably one of the best 2-win teams in the country." They've played a lot of games really tough, but lost them. Hell, against Georgia they were going blow-for-blow with them for a good while. I think a lot of fans assumed they were somewhat of a pushover... but even with disdain/disappointment toward Cubit, I think anyone would be silly to think he thought they were, especially on the road.

Quote:I'm confident we could have won had we stuck with TVT. He's thrown over 300 yards in the past 3 weeks. He's only become hotter and hotter.

I totally agree. I said before, when people were trying to rationalize how our record wasn't Cubit's fault, noting that it's because Carder's out -- I noted that TVT is better than playing a just-healthy-enough-to-play Carder. TVT has gotten better, but I think some people just woke up to reality, Karl Rove style, that Carder is very prone to picks and mistakes, and when you're coming off a major hand injury, it's more than just rust. Without a doubt, TVT was a better QB to play, as he has been playing.

Cubit's mistake was starting Carder. Put a just-healthy-enough-to-play Carder in, if/when TVT is going sour during a game. Starting him was a gamble, and it didn't pay off.
