Wounder if they're using it because it's not on TV-2?

Throw on my frustration as well Danny. But have to love that this team has played hard all game and this could be the start of a pretty fun season. Game going into OT 55-55

Kent State on their way to a surprising opening night OT win against a very good mid major squad

If last year's team with more talent played with the heart we saw tonight, we might have won the MAC. Good, gritty effort. Way to go, Flashes.

It was nice to have Dave on with Ty and Rob...not their fault that the broadcast presentation was crap. And it was CRAP. Screen freezes, echoes, ughh

RE: Drexel @ Kent State
What a great win. If we play that hard all year we will compete all year. Some special shout-outs: Kudos to Mark Henninger. Guy didn't score much (maybe 4 pts) but he defended and rebounded all night and held his own against some big boys. Bryson Pope struggled early but played great in the second half and had some big plays. Kris Brewer was steady almost all night with exception of a little rust in the first 5 minutes. Darren Goodson kept fighting even though his shot wouldn't drop most of the night. He was also pretty steady.

And what do we need to say about our 2 seniors? They made it happen. Chris Evans just balled out and Randal Holt hit some big shots and really played within himself. Just great leadership from those two guys.

The only negative I will point out from tonight was our FT shooting. We will lose a few games because of it if we don't get that tightened up.

Great win. I'm not going out saying its a huge win for the entire program, I said that a year ago. However, for this young group, its a nice feather in the cap.

RE: Drexel @ Kent State
Very nice win over a good Drexel team. Lets hope they go out and win as many games as they can this year. Ty made it seem like they were a top 25 program talent wise and that they should win their league. I sure hope thats the case. Kent got a chance to pat their resume early. Even with the excitement of this win its hard to focus on bball right now with a HUGE football game tomorrow. Give it another month when the football team finishes their historic year and I will be completely on board with the basketball team. Who would have thought any of us would be more excited about the football team at this point in the year

That does not help us. It hurts our RPI and Kent has the only D1 win in the MAC tonight (There are several other losses)

Which win is bigger, last years opening road win down in Morgantown? Or this years opening night win against Drexel?

RE: Drexel @ Kent State
Nice game tonight. Having Brewer play point instead of Pope made a difference between this game and that horrid exhibition game. Having Holt didn't hurt either. We played great defense although I thought Drexel might have done better if they would have pounded the ball inside more but I was pleasantly suprised with the bigs tonight. FT shooting was bad but it was mainly Goodson/Tabb who were 3/8. The rest of the team was 17/23 which is OK. Give Goodson the ball and he will shoot. He is not shy. He is going to get fouled a lot so it was good to see him make his last 3 FT's after missing his first three.

I agree. This team played with heart and did not want to lose. I look forward to watching them play unlike last year. I could handle every game like this, even if they lose, at least they are played hard.

Great effort/heart, great win! 1-0 sounds good no matter what year. Horrible video feed, must get that fixed and they have a guy dedicated to video on staff now, so that should be a quick fix (hopefully).

RE: Drexel @ Kent State
I would say this win is more impressive. Last year expectations were high so the win was nice, but a senior laden team up against a team with a lot of new faces should win. This year with all the unknowns makes the win that much more satisfying. I just hope this doesnt go to their heads as Tuesday is another big game.
