I will be in the new Basketball practice facility this evening. (I've been asked to walk on).
I'll take some pics and post some on here when I get back to my computer.

RE: ODU Master Plan
I'm definitely heading to the Light Rail meeting. I was at the one in the Ted a few years ago when they were first starting to talk about extending the Tide (back then there were Western, Central, and Eastern route options, instead of just a East/West option), and I'll make sure my voice is heard again.
Route options are going to be a big kerfuffle though for the western route. Not a lot of space for dedicated corridors, a lot of high-volume thoroughfares that probably shouldn't be impeded with LR traffic, and a whole bunch of neighborhood characterization questions when it comes to the Historic-Ghent/Modern-Light Rail aesthetic clash.
I would personally expect the Eastern branch (Military Circle/JANAF/ORF/Wards Corner/NOB) to be completed before a Ghent/ODU/NOB leg is completed due to available dedicated corridors (and their associated transit speeds) and overall cost.
I personally think a route down Colley, through 35th street, and down Hampton Blvd is probably the best route that utilizes the current Fort Norfolk stop, but where do you all think it should run through?

I think the Westside route that goes down Granby, across 35th to ODU and up Hampton to the base is the most feasible. I also believe that route will serve the most people (that would actually ride it), which IMO is the most crucial data point; where can we serve the most people that will actually utilize the service. I don't think any of the eastern routes would be utilized heavily.

The Eastern Route is designed to be a "Park and Ride" more or less for the Navy Base so VB and Chesapeake residents that work in the NOB. It would also connect the airport and the planned Military Circle urban area to downtown.
I feel like the people most likely to use/love light rail live in Ghent and ODU, but I can understand why the eastern leg would be chosen before the western one.

I understand the logic in that argument but they have built park and ride lots all across Hampton Roads for car pools. None of them are heavily utilized, unless it's for an event like Harborfest or Tides games. I don't see light rail changing that. The people who will utilize light rail on a daily basis are largely within safe walking distance of a stop.

For reference, above is the map of the routes that they originally released.
And below are the two routes they are doing the environmental study on;

I graduated with my Master's Friday night and we assembled in the practice facility. It doesn't look finished to me, not much on the walls
Apparently Big Blue also graduated!

Congrats, Big!
From what I heard, they are still putting the finishing touches on it with the official opening happening around late May-June if I remember correctly.

The walls do look very plain, they need more branding in the new football weight room and in the basketball practice facility.

What high school's have practice gyms? No public schools I've ever heard of. They play in the same gyms they practice in.

Most local high schools have an auxiliary gym or "practice gym." It is meant for adtl. space for PE classes and doubles as extra scholastic practice room.

So, overflow space? I doubt the varsity teams ever practiced there. I know the varsity team I played for only ever practiced at the main gym (JV at the middle school). The other space was for volleyball, cheerleading and gymnastics. And even if they did, do you think OPs comparison is fitting? He basically said our multi-million dollar facility looks like a space meant for dodgeball.

I wasn't commenting on the validity of the claim. Just simply pointing out.

Lol. Hope we never get back to the days where we're arguing about how great an idea it is to keep playing in those tournaments. But if those banners go up as you say? My bets are off.
