So Obama gets to take credit for the Bush tax cuts that he hates so much?

There's no legitimate reason to complain about 'high' taxes from Reagan onwards, it's the fact they kept them low while our expenses get increasing that's the problem.

Wow. Way to make every conservatives point. Generally conservatives don't complain about "high" taxes, we complain about out of control spending. The problem over the last 20 years is the both parties have increased spending, seemingly without concern for every having to pay for it. Clinton is the last president to really cut spending. His plan wasn't great (I didn't care for many of his social spending programs or the CRA in particular) but it did demonstrate that taxes could remain reasonably low if spending is controlled.

Actually not true.

Compared to the developed countries in OECD, we have the highest top corporate tax rate and a higher than average top personal tax rate.

We don't have the largest tax bite, not even among the leaders, because we don't have a consumption tax. So we have a relatively low total tax byte, but we take that bite in ways that discourage investment and supply side growth. We grow the demand side, and fill those demands by being the largest importer in the world.

And for both individuals and corporations, our effective tax rates are substantially below our top marginal rates because those in the top brackets elect to make money here as long as they can take advantage of loopholes and lower rate brackets, and move income overseas when they bump up against the top rate brackets.

The relevant comparison is to other available options. Other countries are available options, other years aren't.

Corporations provide employment, drive innovation and manufacturing. Last I checked a corporation has never demanded that I give over part of my earnings anway... Well except for the federal government which very closely resembles a corporation int eh way that it operates.
Millionaires invest in corporations and in securities that allow for research and development of new technologies. The owner a my wifes company is a millionaire. He provides her job as well as over 400 others. I'm okay with not taxing him out of business.

So I guess I'm saying I've never seen a corporation or Millionaire take my money.

I'm all for helping those that truely need help. It's just that my help would involve teaching the to do for themselves instead of handing them freebies.

I am all for millionaires and corporations. I want to steal from them.

That's pretty funny for a guy with no intellect and limited humor... sometimes you ALMOST seem human.

Because you say so. That really is your typical response. I think it's funny, mostly b/c you're really stupid about things like math and science, so if we believed what you said, it would be like a Monty Python movie.

What a surprise.. simpleton Torch has an angry opinion about something he knows nothing about, that's new... It's not just my opinion you ignorant child, there have been multiple studies that have proved it to be the case. Your pathetic embrace of ignorance is what's wrong with conservative America right now. You are an embarrassment to this country.

Quote:he most comprehensive review of personality and political orientation to date is a 2003 meta-analysis of 88 prior studies involving 22,000 participants. The researchers—John Jost of NYU, Arie Kruglanski of the University of Maryland, and Jack Glaser and Frank Sulloway of Berkeley—found that conservatives have a greater desire to reach a decision quickly and stick to it, and are higher on conscientiousness, which includes neatness, orderliness, duty, and rule-following. Liberals are higher on openness, which includes intellectual curiosity, excitement-seeking, novelty, creativity for its own sake, and a craving for stimulation like travel, color, art, music, and literature.

You also don't accept facts. When you're living in a fantasy world, yes, I'm sure life is good. You spew hateful, ignorant nonsense, and you hope that if you spew enough of it people won't have time or the patience to continue to call you out on your ****. You're a pathetic, sad man who I feel sorry for.

I'm successful, just because I believe we should help the poor, veterans, the elderly and children does not mean I expect the government to pay my way. I believe a strong middle class is far more helpful for the country in the long run than concentrating wealth in the hands of the few.

I kind of agree but the military job cuts in VA alone would be in thousands. Congress needs a kick in the azz but not at the expense of citizens.

It's gonna hurt somebody no matter what they do.

It's time for the grownups to turn on the lights, turn off the music, hand everybody their pants and their car keys and send them home.
