Welcome to the site. It cant get going until people start talking. There is sometimes a delay in the approval process due to the overall size of this board and the number of spam bots. GTS is the admin for the whole board and does a great job!

RE: MVC Fans
What a disgusting joke. I was hoping we might get more traffic when basketball started. I know there are a few Shocker fans signed up and a BJ fan as well. Maybe eventually.

Yeah, I was hoping some traffic would have picked up with the season started but...

Happy to see NDST in the title game again. back 2 back wins would be quite an accomplishment for a program only it's 6th year of FCS competitions

RE: MVC Fans
So all the Valley President's met today and I'm guessing the discussion was about conference realignment. Bradley's beat reporter a couple days ago said Creighton was leaving for the all Catholic League (Big East BBall break offs) and Evansville was moving to the Summit for easier competition and shorter travel. Evansville's prez shot it down and said they were happy in the Valley, never really heard CU say much to shut down rumors. Some other schools mentioned were Butler, Dayton, Gonzaga, and San Fran U to go along with the Catholic league Big "7" dropouts
Who would you like to see the Valley add if 1, 2, or none leave. I throw in none just to see if adding some strength to the Valley might help the Conf. keep members, and expand it's footprint.
Names getting thrown around on Redbirdfan.net were Saint Louis, UIC, Loyola (Chicago), UW-Milwaukee, Belmont in Nashville, and Oral Roberts in Tulsa. Another school I was thinking of geographically would be UALR which doesn't have football and just built a 10k+ BBall arena.

RE: MVC Fans
I think Creighton is gone if they get an invite. I wouldn't blame them. Wichita would take the offer too if they had a chance. I would pay to help Evansville move to the Summit or Horizon.
As far as who to add. I'm not a fan of adding yet another Illinois school. I don't think Little Rock is ready or close to it. But admit, I'd have to look closer at all options. My list of schools I'd personally like to look more into are Belmont (Nashville), Wright State (Dayton), Milwaukee, Murray State, Arlington and Denver.
Murray is the only one that doesn't present a market, but they've been solid of late. Belmont is a small private which always concerns me. Arlington gets us into Texas which I like and they've been investing in basketball and making improvements. Denver is also investing and is easy to get to. I go back and forth on them though. Wright State has been a decently solid program and Milwaukee has as well.
I don't know what the athletic departments of any of these look like or how much they could do to really invest in basketball as a whole. That would be a big part of it. How much is each school willing to invest to make their programs better. Because all of these potential adds need to improve. We can't just go adding schools to add schools. If there's no value brought to the table, there's no point in bringing them in.

RE: MVC Fans
Lots of talk going on realignment wise. Lots of rumors, but most dont see C7 rushing into leaving BE until UCONN and Cincy decide what they are going to do.
They may not have to leave at all.

RE: MVC Fans
They'll take their time, but I think everyone knows that UConn and Cincy will leave at the first chance. UConn wants in the ACC and I wouldn't be surprised if the XII hasn't had some sort of talks with them. I don't know about the TV contracts, but the XII adding those two wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for that conference to get back to 12. The only other team I can really think of them going after is BYU. I suppose they could still try to lure FSU and Clemson/GT away from the SEC as rumors once stated. If they offered a spot for UConn and Cincy, they'd get accepted almost immediately unless the ACC rushed in with offers to counter.

SEC won't take GT or Clemson from what I am told. They don't add media markets. If that is what you were saying.
Remember that the XII was almost dead and was resurrected. Wonder if the Big East is capable of saving itself.

RE: MVC Fans
I was saying that the XII could look at those two along with FSU. There were a lot of rumors about that in the past year or so. If the XII can get FSU and one of those two, I think they'd jump on it.
If that did happen, the question would then be who would the SEC take from the ACC? If they took two from them, the BE would finally lose UConn and Cincy to the ACC. I do think the XII makes another move in the next year.

I could see Cincinnati going to the XII. Would fill a gap between Morgantown and the other states.

I tend to agree. I don't see Cincy getting an ACC invite and no chance of a B1G invite because of academics (XII is not as picky). There was an apparent split in the ACC over the Louisville vs UConn choice based on academics, UConn might get the next call from either the ACC or B1G if they can find a decent academic partner (sorry Cincy) to join them, otherwise they're dangling. They would work with the ACC to match with BC in the northeast.

RE: MVC Fans
Umass only averaged about 10,000 a game in football this year (their first year in FBS after being in FCS for a long time). I have a hard time seeing them being very attractive to a BCS conference. They do have a lot of potential in that Western Massachusetts market though.

Is isnt about butts in the seats. Its about views in homes. Ratings equals more dollars. If Florida State were to play at UMASS there wiuld he a whole lot more TVs watching.

RE: MVC Fans
And UMass is currently playing an hour and a half from campus for their home games. Attendance will improve as I believe there are plans for a bigger on campus stadium.
