Bruins Bash summary
Quick recap of the Bash last night....lasted about an hour, the crowd was ok, less than what I'm sure they had hoped and bit less energetic than hoped too I would guess.

Introduced both teams, women did a few drills as they had just finished practice I think. They then did a little shooting game which was entertaining with one player from the men's and women's team and a student where alternating shooters they had to make a layup, free throw, three pointer, and half court shot. They timed them to see which team did it the fastest.

They also had a quick dunk contest with Blake, Brandon, Drew Windler and Craig Bradshaw participating. Blake won. There were a few creative dunks but as well know we don't have a lot of high flyers.

Then the men scrimmaged which looked more like an NBA allstar game (no defense), which was ok for what this event was. Craig Bradshaw is a player. Drew Windler while skinny, would be a great addition this year and will be very helpful next. Chowbay was hard to tell, he's a little smaller than I expected, didn't see enough of him to really form an opinion. Laidig hit a difficult deep contested three and looks physically like he could play this year. Bradshaw looks like he will be a leader on the team after Kerron and Ian leave, and could play either the 1 or 2 as he made some nice passes as well.

Turner knocked down a bunch of threes, but can he play defense at this level? Most everyone else looked like themselves. Chad had a class and was not there. Still don't think he'll contribute like we need but we can hope.

We may find out how spoiled we have been with Mick and Scott in the post. Hopefully the NCAA will show Drew some love and let him play this year. It should be fun and I'm ready. It's strange starting with lip though. That game feels like it should have more build up, but it's here and there'd be no better way to start the season than hanging another L on Sanderson.

Anyone know if that game has been picked up by tv? 6:30 is an odd start time if not.

I tried to find info on the Lipscomb game and couldn't find anything.

I went to the Bash and enjoyed the fun. It's hard to tell too much from those events. I did think Bradshaw is an athlete.

I agree with you on Bradshaw. He looks extremely talented. So just came across this forum when searching google for information on Windler and his eligibility. There was a post awhile back that discussed this topic. I know he was in uniform at the Bash - does this mean he is eligible?

Welcome 31!

As far as Windler, he will not play this year. According to Byrd at the basketball luncheon earlier this week, Drew applied for an exemption from the NCAA and he got turned down. He will have 1 year of eligibility and it will be next year. Byrd mentioned that he would have been immediate help this year on the inside.

Well that is disappointing. I really think he could have been the difference in a good team and a great one. Our x-factor this year has to be Blake. I think he could really make a name for himself.

I think it will be significant for a freshman. First of all, Bradshaw is an athlete who knows how to win. He looks solid physically and plays with a high intensity which is something Byrd likes.

Secondly, Byrd is actively recruiting at least one of Bradshaw's high school teammates from CPA. CPA is loaded. They could probably beat some small college teams. I think Byrd wants to get these guys to watch Craig play significant minutes. He can draw his old teammates to come watch him play with unofficial visits.

Yea CPA is loaded. Drew Maddux is doing a fine job there. I am hoping to make it out to see them play sometime. Who are we going after from that team...and what recruiting sources do you use?

Jalen Lindsey is too high profile for us. I had heard we were interested in Jake Allsmiller. He can fill it up. His dad played at Vandy. We need some beef though.

I believe it is Jake, but it could be nearly anyone from that team. I got the information from a twitter post from Drew. He mentioned that Byrd was there recruiting.
