I have always thought Murray cheated. Rick Byrd just a hellagood coach.

He gets the "leftovers" and makes them into ball players.

when gottfried was at murray word is everyone on the squad was driving escalades

all the other coaches have relied on solid players with jail records from other schools. they either swept any subsequent felonies under the rug or in high profile cases like kelvin brown dismissed them.

the blue hairs in murray ky demand winners and are willing to look the other way at 'youthful indescretions' if it benefits. the majority of their fans are blaming the victims of the latest 'racer gone wild' video.

you couple all that with an annual tomato can schedule and you win.

The two kids Murray got from NE Arkansas way back in the day - straight out from under Nelson Catalina's watch - were flat out bad asses. Marcus Brown and Jeff Martin both competed for the NCAA scoring titles while at Murray - and both played HS within 50 minutes of Jonesboro.

Murray comes to Jonesboro this year - so this is your chance to do something worthwhile Brady . . . don't disappoint me!

Popeye Jones was from TN, and supposedly we didn't "want him". He would light us up for about 30 points every game 03-banghead

I heard he had a son who was a good player.

Martin and Brown were great. Martin was part of the M&M boys (Martin and Don Mann).

popeye was a great player. so was martin.

but they've also taken jailbirds like rick jones and adam chiles and jamar avant and miles and now zay jackson.

every school is gonna have a kid do something stupid but murray in their desire to win at any cost overlooks far more than other schools.

I think we need to pump the breaks on this talk of our "victory" in the scrimmage. Chatter is that both teams played a lot of guys and c'mon, it was a closed scrimmage. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather come out on the winning side so long as the score is being kept, but this is a lot like getting worked up over looking good in the NFL pre-season. Guys played for both sides that won't see meaningful minutes all season, there was no crowd, guys are working out the cobwebs.

I've seen Blue Raider teams come into the season with high expectations and last year was the first time I've ever seen one even come close to living up to those expectations. I have a good feeling about this season, I expect it will be at worst Kermit's 2nd best regular season in Murfreesboro, but it would only take 20 wins for that to be the case. I'm just not going to geek out over a scrimmage against Murray.

are you saying that a team could lose it's best player by far.....and still be okay the next year?
