Do western fans refer to the game as a hundred miles of hate as well? If not I think it should always start being referred to that...it's a cool nickname

I've never heard it referred to that but then again, I haven't been a student since the early 90's. I've always felt the rivalry was more intense coming from MT than WKU but I'm sure that'll change.

I don't like the word hate though.

The Battle of 231 might be more accurate...then again Hwy 231 also runs through Troy, Alabama.

I think the word hate doesn't describe my opinion of WKU. Umm, I would say that I like to compete with them on a local level but hate? I know, it's a sensational term.

I think WKU wins. MTSU is just to unpredictable to make a score forcast.

After watching games last weekend and all the Rivalry game trophies, I was thinking we need a trophy for this game.

I suggest the Bourbon Barrel (Jim Beam KY vs Jack Daniels TN)

Give me your suggestions...

Probably won't let us do anything with liquor, beer, etc.

I do like the fact that the two schools have a blood drive.

We don't do blackouts. RED and WHITE are our colors. You won't see our team wearing crazy colored unis. We will have white helmets, red jerseys, and white pants. Every home game.
Yes I hate Middle. Supposed to, I guess.
Go Tops.

RE: Hundred Miles of Hate Thread
I want this one bad. I've gone back and forth quite a bit as to whether or not I think we can pull it off, I seemed to change my mind week to week and now I seem to be changing it daily, I'm sure by Thursday it will be hourly. As "the who" illustrated, this series has been wacky since it restarted in 2007 so even in years where it seems predictable, it's not, but I'm sure both teams want this really badly. We're finally to a time where 100% of our both our rosters have never not had this game on the schedule and the last two games have been decided by a field goal or less. MT is fighting for bowl eligibility and Western(already bowl eligible) is fighting for style points, to avoid being left out of postseason play like last year. On top of all of that, both schools are fighting to stay in the title hunt. Whichever team loses is almost definitely out of the race and will have to root for ULM to drop two games as well as Arkansas State and the winner of Thursday's game to both lose another game. The winner of the game Thursday will be in a pretty good position to finish 2nd in conference and still hoping for a share of the title in the event of a ULM slip up.

I don't technically "hate" Western, they're like a pain in the ass brother that you want to beat in everything but you want to keep around because the competition makes you better and beating them feels better than beating just about anyone else. With all due respect to the fans of every other school, I wouldn't lose any sleep if we never played a single game in any sport against the entire rest of the conference. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's what I want to happen, I like the Sun Belt and there are other schools I look forward to playing, but I never want to see a year go by that we don't play Western in every sport possible.

Again, don't hate them, but I do actually like the nickname for the game.

It's the rivalries like this one that make me love the SBC. WKU vs. MTSU, FAU vs. FIU, and UL vs. ULM.

RE: Hundred Miles of Hate Thread
Personally, I am dreading this game.

Thoughts:

1) The crowd will be piss poor. There is no excuse for it, but that is what it will be.

2) I think MTSU will have a great shot at this game. WKU "should" win but this is the battle for sole possession of second place and Middle is going to fight us for it. Combine that with the afore mentioned piss poor crowd and WKU could have a let down. Crazy things happen in rivalries. ESPNU be damned, this game should be on Saturday. If ESPNU can't broadcast it at a reasonable time then they can stick it up thier rears.

I have this nightmarish vision of sitting through three hours of freezing misery watching Jakes turn it over while I think about how early I have to get up to go to work...

Good Post.

About sums me up, as well.

I do HATE losing to them.... in anything.

Wear your long johns and wool socks folks. It's gonna be a cold one.

There ain't much worse than freezing your buttocks off, so better safe than sorry. Bring 3 coats if you have to.

I remember back when we had sh*tty season tickets for the Titans and sitting on the very top row watching the Titans beat the 'Boys. Froze my 'nads off.

I have never made that mistake again.

Planned on going, but the late start time has knocked our group out. Going to watch from home. Really wanted to visit WKU as I have never been on their campus.

All this bitching about ESPNU and Thursdays and game times and then in another thread we are bitching that the Sun Belt doesn't get enough national TV exposure.

My problem is that the Belt is making too many concessions here. We play on Tuesday and Thursday night because supposedly no one else does so that means we should get prime time coverage.

Instead of being on ESPN or ESPN2 (the major networks), at 7:00pm we get ESPNU at 8:15pm. Is this a joke? I would rather just play Saturday and be on ESPN3. Benson needs to renegotiate this for sure. He also needs to work on the basketball deal, that basically screwed WKU out of it's FCS packzge that had every one of our games on national television.

Amen to that, instead of paying $25 over the course of the basketball season to see our games on Fox College Sports, we now have to pay what $150 for ESPN gameplan and hope the games will be showed....They will announce 10 to 14 days in advance if our game will be on ESPN Gameplan...for out of town fans including me who live in Lexington, this is horrible for WKU basketball....Since I am a Direct TV consumer I will be set back to the 80s with listening to away games on radio only, and then hope WKU's sites webcast holds up for home games....We are slave drivers to ESPN and its not working!
