I am far more concerned about the number of interceptions we are throwing each game than I am about the current state of the defense.
Same here. Also, why all of a sudden are we giving up so many sacks? Sacks and interceptions should be of big concern. However, I am glad to see that we have an effective RB in Tyree Lee.

how much inflation there?
Based on the view of the game from the internet feed, it appeared to be no more than 5,000 there.

Rondeau-lite aka Bill Dee has to go after this year. Giving up a 93 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter with a lead the size of the one we have is absolutely INEXCUSABLE.
Not even remotely excusable. That is literally the only thing you CAN'T allow. Dee needs to go. Unbelievable.
Agree that this was "not even remotely excusable". I have said it several times this season now; we play stupid defensive schemes. Why we don't have safeties playing 15-20 yards off the ball in that situation is ridiculous. Who cares if they drive 95 yards in 12 plays? Let them chew up the clock. It can't be 95 yards in 1 play. Force them to execute on a consistent basis in order to score. Don't let them get one lucky play because you blitzed trying to get a safety. Stupid. Just plain stupid.
I'm not saying that Dee should be fired, but Dee has blood on his hands with that one.

I watched the game online and it looked like to me most of the sacs were coverage sacs. Taylor was holding the ball way too long.

I was at the game and including the bunch of school kids and other groups they bused in (probably for free), I'd say no more than 3K butts in seats. Pathetic...

I think that the sacks and interception issue speaks to the hole left by Reid Evans. I don't think that this can be overstated. None of our receivers draw double coverage this year.
TH is having to hold the ball longer because of no open receiver.
We either need to devise plays that have 'safety valve' (checkdown) options, or TH needs to bite the bullet and throw it away.
As to the 93 yard TD.
It's only one play, move on.

We can run the RB screen more often to counter the blitz.

It's not only one play. It's been symptomatic of our defense all season long. Ga State is a terrible football team and giving up a 93 yd TD in THAT SITUATION is absolutely inexcusable.
You see it as "one meaningless play in a blowout football game".
I see it as further proof that our defense is not ready for primetime and neither is our defensive coordinator.
We are going to struggle against REAL teams in the FCS playoffs.
Things like that cannot happen against North Dakota State, Sam Houston State or Eastern Washington.
If we are giving up plays like that to Ga State, what happens when we play a real team with a real offense and a real defense?
Stop making excuses, the defense has been flat out terrible all season long. 1 play my arse.

BTW. Stay tuned for the outcome of the Evans saga. I'm hearing that the prosecution has no evidence. Is it possible that he is not guilty? Clearly a tragedy has occurred. But is she the victim or is Evans?

The replay shows that we had 8 players withing 3 yards of the line of scrimmage after the snap of the ball.

No offense to Reid because we could use him this season, but I feel we need to aim a little higher than he when it comes to WR talent. Now that we're moving to CUSA, we need a few big, physical receivers who can go up and beat the defender to the ball. That opens the playbook to deep plays, back shoulder throws, etc. It also improves our run blocking on the outside.
I hope Evans is proven innocent, but I'm afraid it's a lost cause at this point. What a shame.

The defense up the same number of TDs to GaSt as JMU did, the premier defense in the CAA.
We only gave up 20 points to Towson, and 26 points to Delaware.
For 3 quarters we obliterated UR.
Certainly our defense is not where I believe it should be, however it has shown improvement. As I stated before, when you run a quick strike offense, your opponent has more chances; and especially late, your defense tires.
Witness Oregon.
The 93 yd td was either a blown call or GaSt really faked us out; and a play that normally doesn't work against us.
In any event, it was one play

I agree. The defense has shown improvement of late. Dee has them playing better. Looking at 1 play is taking the 100 ft view.
