some impressive numbers
that was a huge win for me saturday. some thought i was sandbagging about fiu but i really wasn't. the talent is there on that team. i have always felt sketchy about cristobal the tactician but not cristobal the builder if that makes sense.

i didn't feel great about our team since the asu game but just looking at pure numbers this is one of the better topper squads we've had. if you look at these numbers and think about how close our games have been i think it speaks to how tough our conference is this year.

this is a copy and paste from our board but i was surprised by our rankings in some categories.

none of these are meant to disparage anyone else. i'm sure some of other squads and individuals shine in several categories. i just haven't seen them posted.

Even given the fact that some of these stats are padded against our lesser teams in the conference, they are still impressive. Look for Flo Rida to take your OC...if not them, someone else.

I'm not sure that ASU, FIU (records aside, they have talent and are better than their record), ULM, and Troy are the "lesser" teams in the conference. I'd consider FAU, USA, and possibly NT as the lesser but until we get to the second half of the conference schedule, that's difficult to ascertain.

Those team defense numbers are impressive as hell.

News to me that ULM and stAte are lesser teams in the conference.

I hate to hear comments like that. Every conference has lesser teams every year but you know that half the teams in any conference finish in the bottom 50%. That's going to happen no matter how good those teams are. There can be an SEC team in the top 25 but sits at 4th place in their division (I wouldn't know whether to be happy or sad). The teams on your schedule are who you have to play and the stats you get are legit regardless of how good or bad those teams are. And the "lesser" teams still pull the upset...see FAU/Troy and UNT/ULL...you have to respect them all.

I agree SOT1977
who else has held FIU out of the endzone this year? and who else has held State scoreless in the 2nd half? other than that team ULM04-bow WKU has done a good job and earned most of those rankings. While I understand they might be scewed some since we are not playing 4-6 top 25 teams , I do think our performance defensively against Bama says enough. I bet half the top 25 has played a schedule equal to ours. If we can correct some playing calling on offense we will be tough to beat

For the hell of it, I took 20 minutes and pasted this: http://web1.ncaa.org/football/exec/ranki...12&org=772
into Excel for each Sun Belt team and got the average national rank for each Sun Belt team for all the statistical categories listed, and included LT for the hell of it. USA is not listed on NCAA.org.

WKU 43

LTU 51
ULM 52

ULL 61
STATE 62

TROY 66
UNT 67
MT 68

FIU 79

FAU 90
