ORONO, Maine - With the extra attacker on, junior Conor Allen netted the equalizer with 1:08 remaining in regulation to help the UMass hockey team battle back from a two-goal deficit to tie Maine, 2-2 at Alfond Arena on Friday night. The Minutemen are now 3-4-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Hockey East, while the Black Bears move to 2-9-1 on the year and 1-5-1 in conference play.

UMass T&F 2012-13 Season
Men's XC and T&F Introduces Freshmen For The 2012-13 Season Head Coach Ken O'Brien, Assistant Coaches David Jackson and Darcy Wilson had perhaps the busiest summer of all and have brought in 26 freshman this season between both track and field and cross country.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Just a few minutes before the University of Massachusetts women‘s basketball team began its near-impossible task Sunday against the nation’s seventh-ranked team, a chorus of cheers echoed from one small corner of Notre Dame‘s Purcell Pavilion.

UMass senior center Jasmine Watson, a former high school star in South Bend, had been introduced by the public-address announcer. A group of family and friends were there to cheer her on.

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey earned a 2-2 tie with No. 18 Quinnipiac following a scoreless overtime period at the Mullins Center on Saturday evening. Junior Conor Sheary and senior Rocco Carzo notched a goal each while junior Joel Hanley tallied his eighth career multi-point game with a pair of assists. The Minutemen move to 4-5-2 overall while the Bobcats stand at 8-3-2 on the year following the draw.

Late Rally Results In UMass Loss To Holy Cross, 63-59 Trio of Minutewomen score in double-digits during defeat

AMHERST, Mass. - In a contest that came down to the final minute of play, UMass women's basketball dropped a 63-59 decision to visiting-Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore guard Emily Mital had a team-high 14 points, including 12 in the second half. Senior center Jasmine Watson contributed 11 points and seven rebound while redshirt-junior Kiara Bomben added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Minutewomen (1-5 overall) opened the contest with a lockdown defensive effort to keep Holy Cross (2-3) off the scoreboard until 14:34 remained in the first half. The Crusaders opened 0-for-9 from the floor while UMass forced Holy Cross to commit a pair of turnovers during the span.

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass hockey team tallied its fourth win of the season over a nationally-ranked opponent, handing #11/9 Boston University a 5-1 loss at the Mullins Center on Friday evening in front of 7,267 fans, the 15th-largest home crowd in program history. With the win, the Minutemen improve to 10-12-2 overall, 7-9-1 in Hockey East, while the Terriers fall to 13-10-1, 10-7-1 in conference action.

Junior Michael Pereira tied a career high with a four-point night, contributing two goals and two assists, his first multi-goal game of the season. Linemates Branden Gracel and Conor Sheary chipped in with three points (1g, 2a) and a goal, respectively. UMass' top line of Pereira-Gracel-Sheary totaled eight of the Minutemen's 14 points on the evening and now has 31 in nine games when paired together.

BOSTON - Boston University scored a pair of goals in overtime to pull off a 9-8 win over the No. 14 UMass women's lacrosse team on a rainy and windy Wednesday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The Minutewomen had a chance to tie the game in the final minute of overtime, but a turnover allowed the Terriers to run out the clock for the win. UMass will return to action on Saturday when the Minutewomen host Iona at McGuirk Stadium.

The loss drops UMass to 3-2 overall on the year, while Boston University improves to 1-0 overall. The one-goal decision marked the fifth-time in the last eight games of the series that the outcome was by two-or-fewer points
