BB&B Refugees
Been lurking on BB&B for about a year but never could understand why there was very little relevant threads and if there was one it suddenly dissappeared. Finally decided to post on a topic I was curious about and for the 15 minutes it was up got a good discussion. then it dissappeared. Found it when I went "Pit Diving" along with several other relevant threads. Never seen a forum run like freaking 1960's Eastern Block country.

Will be checking this site daily to see if anyone else notices this post and wants to get this board active and actually discuss football instead of whining about "having to drive to Shreveport
" or "Why did we schedule A&M" or "I wish those students in front of me would sit down so I don't have to stand".

I am a Tech alum but that board has the whiniest Bit$hes I've ever seen on a football forum.

I love the guys over at BB&B but I had to take a break this week. You would think that our season is over and we have no chance of getting a bowl game or getting back in the top 25 again. Once we take our frustration out on Idaho this weekend I think they will put their pitchforks and torches down. 03-melodramatic

Why the sudden "to the pit" on everything?

I started a thread to get opinions on whether we'd be able to keep Coach Dykes because I've been reading on other boards and in the media about interest in him from other programs. Wouldn't have started the thread or probably even posted except there wasn't a thread on there about that and I found that odd. Found my thread and several others in the pit.

I expect more out of an entity representing Tech. Maybe it's the era I went to school there-- mid 70's to early 80's -- but if they had tried to censor like that back then we'd have torched the place.

Some of the guys over their are a little paranoid. I remember last year before the bowl game that anytime someone posted that Creer was ruled ineligable for the game do to academics, the thread disappeared to the pit. I read a little bit of your thread and I'm guessing talking about the coach leaving was bad JuJu. Some off them think that coaches and AD's spend their time surfing message boards for nuggets of info. In short they must have been afraid of someone hiring SD away this week if they read a thread discussing were he would go. 01-wingedeagle

Actually found a thread that discussed some of the info I was looking for:

http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=593302

This is the most info I've been able to get and had to go to our future conference mates board to get it -- really strange. 05-stirthepot

CUSA is being very self conscious about who we added--lots of uneasiness abound about who is arriving next year. That said, La Tech this year has been the only bright spot for the new guys coming.

RE: BB&B Refugees
"BB&B refugees" give me a break. If you are the "Dykes-gate" guy, I bet your thread was moved for a couple of reasons:

1. We are in the middle of the 2012 Season. A potentially historic one at that. It is piss-poor timing to discuss coaching changes.
2. Starting "Where will Dykes Go after this Season?" threads MULTIPLE times does little for the average reader. Comment on any current thread discussing the topic, don't go start a bunch of new ones.
3. Believe it or not, we DO have lots of players and staff members that read the board. Speculating on coaching changes when the coaches are doing their best to keep this team focussed on the task at hand (winning the current week's game) is counterproductive, and undermines the CURRENT goals of our staff.

Our fan board is one of THE most active, colorful, humorous, aggravating, irritating, fun, exciting boards out there. THE most passionate LaTech fans in the WORLD hang out there, offering up all sorts of opinions, discussions, and an occasional smack in the head. Unlike some schools' fan boards that have hyper-sensitive moderators that will ban you for expressing a certain opinion, our guys (and ladies) pretty much let it go like a cage fight.

This approach must work, since this is the reason we get more hits in a week than most university fan boards get in a month. http://www.latechbbb.com is one of THE most visited non-AQ fan boards in the country (according to those who monitor such stuff)---

Don't be a whiner. Man up, roll with the punches, and lighten up, Francis.

Sincerely,
A loyal BBB member since 1998.

1. Been watching Tech Football since I was about 9 or 10 years old -- I'm 53 now -- and no one is more excited about the season than I am. Was not trying to offend anyone.

2. The only reason I started the thread was that I hadn't seen a thread on that subject and really wanted input as to whether the concensus was we would be able to keep Coach Dykes with all the success he's having and all the major job openings coming available. Where is there better to get that feedback than our own board? I didn't know any others had been started as they were apparently sent to the pit before I saw them.

3. Didn't realize comments on a fan board would have such far reaching effects.

I read the board daily and occasionally comment and you're right. It seems like a good group of people and I get a lot of info on one of my major vices -- Bulldog Football.

I started this thread a few minutes after the thread I started at BB&B was pitted -- 15 minutes or so after I started it with no explanation in the middle of a good discussion. I was confused and frankly pi$$ed.

Didn't think it would be a good idea to post to BB&B to ask why things suddenly dissapeared with no explanation as that would just go to the pit.

This thread did do what I intended it to. I got an explanation of what happened and understand more about what's going on with the board. -- something I couldn't have gotten from BB&B.

Sincerely

A Loyal Tech Fan

GO BULLDOGS!!!! 04-cheers

I read the CUSA Conference Talk board daily and from the posts I've read I think we'll fit in fine. Really excited about being in the conference next year.

We had anywhere from a bit to a lot of History with several of the current and incoming CUSA members:

The first Tech game I ever watched in Ruston was aginst Southern Miss that my grandfather took me to when I was a kid. Coach Lambright was a USM alum and there were a lot of good games over the years with them.

The first game ever played in Joe Aillet stadium was aginst ECU in 1968. With Terry Bradshaw at quarterback we beat ya'll 35-7. We played ECU in the Independence Bowl in 1978 (my sophmore year at Tech) and ya'll beat us 35-13. Looking forword to playing ECU again.

Rice, UTEP, and Tulsa were in the WAC when we got there..

North Texas we have played a lot.

The Lady Techsters and ODU Monarchs were at one time the two best teams in women's basketball (we'll get back there again as I'm sure ODU will too) and played some epic games.

I'm sure I'm overlooking other teams we have history with but this is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Some of the current teams in the conference may be temporarily down but with history, tradition, students and fans they have they will be back.

After playing for years in the winderness (the WAC) joining CUSA seems like coming home.

Looking forward to it! 04-cheers

You'd be surprised to know how ludicrous some of the discussions on that board are to LT staff. The self-righteous, uninformed, one-up-manship/i'm a bigger fan than you and will say anything to prove it....attitude of that place is laughable at times.

That said, it is a great place for people to keep up with relevant topics to the program and I cannot fault it's existence in the least. Sometimes, however, I think we are better served by going to the source to ask questions rather than the google-happy and/or uninformed.
