I know people post these all the time so I thought I'd post ours from Saturday.
Tyler Arndt was our QB in 2010 until he blew his ACL. Last year he was still recovering and only got starts after the current (and last season's) starter went down with an injury. This year he has been relegated to desperation time or mop up.
Saturday, vs Idaho, Fran went to letting our #3 & 4 guys get some PT. He put Arndt in with about 6 minutes left....our next to last possession. When we got the ball back with 2:35 left:
"Fran said after the game that he went to Arndt in the fourth quarter and told him, "Duke's mom came all the way in from California this weekend to see him play. Would you mind if we let him finish the game." Tyler said he didn't have any problem with it and Duke got his first playing time of the season.
Fran said that he's been told Duke's mom hasn't been able to see him play a lot, so this was a special moment for all of them. If you were at the game you can see how much it meant to the team when they swarmed him after his TD run.
"When we called the option the players told me there's no way Duke was going to ever give up the ball," said Fran about Duke's touchdown run.
Talking to Rutherford, Curry and Morris after the game they said they were more excited about Duke's touchdown and David Mims' interception than anything else in the game."
Quote from BCR.
The team swarmed the kid (he's our #3 QB) like he had just won them the NC game. It was electric and heart-warming.
