HOMECOMING SET FOR FEB. 2ND; BLACK OUT, GOLD OUT DATES ANNOUNCED
RICHMOND, Va. – Basketball season officially started this past Friday evening when the VCU men's basketball team kicked off the first day of practice for the 2012-2013 season. Just like the Rams are prepping for the season, so too is the rest of the VCU Athletics Department.
VCU Athletics is excited to announce some special dates for the upcoming 2012-13 men's basketball season.
The first comes on Wednesday, Jan. 9, when the Rams play their historic first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference game, hosting the Dayton Flyers. To celebrate this inaugural event, Lumber Liquidators will be sponsoring the first-ever "Stripe The Stu." Every fan in the Verizon Wireless Arena will have a t-shirt in their seat at an attempt to "Stripe the Stu" in Black and Gold.
Next up is a partnership with VCU and Farm Bureau for Homecoming on Feb. 2, when VCU hosts Fordham in a 7 p.m. contest. All fans are encouraged to proudly wear VCU Gold for the 2013 Homecoming Gold Out at the Siegel Center.
The final special date comes on Saturday, March 2 when the Rams get a shot at revenge on new A-10 foe, Butler. With a national audience on ESPN, fans are encouraged to wear black for Nationwide's Black Out Butler Rematch when the Rams host the Bulldogs for the first-ever A-10 matchup between the two teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
VCU Athletics will be working with their online retail partner, TeamFanShop as well as our local retail partner, Barnes & Noble Bookstore to ensure that fans have plenty of Black and Gold options for the designated days in order to create the best home-court environment as possible.
