Bobcats Crack Top 25
Kent State now knows what it has to aspire to. I think that with how the Flashes are playing, they're certainly capable of beating Ohio, especially at home. I can't wait for this game to decide the MAC East!

RE: Bobcats Crack Top 25
Good for them, but what a sham. Think about the 2 teams that sandwich them in the polls. How bad would Boise St and/or Arizona St pound UMASS and Buffalo? Ohio is ranked on record only, and not who they have beaten or how they have played. They are not that good.

BTW, PSC, I only speak for myself when I say I like seeing the weekly MAC rankings and other stuff. However, you don't need to come to our board and start a post about Ohio University football and how they are ranked.

I have seen all of the relevant MAC East teams and let me tell you this: those who exclude BG from any division title projections are being foolish.

He posts his rankings on all the team boards, or at least the active ones, not just on this board.

As I said before, I like seeing the rankings and reading his thoughts there. What I don't like is him coming to our board and starting a thread about Ohio U football. That's just my two cents.

I am slightly confused. Are you using the above referenced game as an example to defend OU for not beating UMASS and UB badly? Therefore they should be ranked?

If I gave you any team in America and told you these were there results, I don't care if it was Alabama, Oregon, or Ohio U. These results, with this schedule, don't deserve to be ranked. And quite frankly, it goes beyond the results. Ohio U. has been unimpressive in achieving these results. They don't pass the proverbial "eye test."

@ Penn State W 24-14
New Mexico St W 51-24
@ Marshall W 27-24
Norfolk State W 44-10
@ UMASS W 37-34
Buffalo W 38-31
Akron W 34-28

According to the website below, Ohio U strength of schedule is ranked 123 out of 124 teams in D1. Very impressive.

I have always had your back. I should take away the positive rep points I have given you in the past, but instead, I am going to give you 2 more. But only because I love it when you post.

RE: Bobcats Crack Top 25
I say let them be ranked. Gives us a shot at beating 2 top 25 teams this year if they continue to win (and dream scenario is if we beat OU ranked in the top 25, Rutgers, and then play a Toledo team in the top 25 if they win out would give us 3 games against top 25 teams with two in the MAC). I highly doubt that last scenario but hey one can dream right?

As much as I want to look forward to this game (I work with 3 OU grads that are planning a trip to the game and smack talking) we have a lot of work to do to make this game as meaningful as we hope. Plus OU beat Akron by 6 and Buffalo by 7 the last two weeks. We're a long way from saying this will be the "game to decide the MAC East." Miami and BG will certainly be in the mix and neither Kent nor OU have played them yet.

Don't forget about that huge beatdown of UMASS (by 3 points), the team that has never won a game as a D1 team. 03-lmfao

For what its worth, Ohio's victories have come against teams a combined 11-33.

Not playing this week should bump them out. They'd get the Bobcat piss kicked out of them by Texas.

JimJoyce,

Both very valid points and I love the passion in the closing phrase.

Not to put a damper on anything, but the teams we have won against are 10-28. I know you are saying that they don't deserve to be ranked, but we also can't do much talking about the quality of this 5-1 record.

I agree with you from the standpoint that we are taking care of business against seemingly lesser opponents. The difference is two fold. First, we aren't ranked and nobody here is arguing that we should be. Second, we aren't just sneaking by. We are soundly beating the teams we should beat. OU beat UMASS (3), UB (7), and the Zits (6) by a combined 16 points. Those 3 teams are a combined 2-17 and 0-9 in the MAC.

RE: Bobcats Crack Top 25
Not only that but all the hype is going to a team that was expected to be good. When people see 5-1 Kent State they "aren't sold" yet. Despite our opponents' combined records being relatively equal, it seems there's a typical media double standard when it comes to comparing OU and us.

Listen, I'm all for them being #25 or better because it will help us when we kick their ass.

I just don't think they are the 25th best team in Division I and anyone who does needs a cat scan.

I should have added that we are beating teams easily, I just wanted to compare the records.
