Memphis now has an AD who describes himself as a "football guy" and who has been given a mandate to turn football around. New AD new coach. But with the state of the players and facilities it's like turning an oil tanker --- it'll take a little time. This is the first year, frankly, that ANY effort has been made at Memphis to build a football program. Hence our former coach, Tommy West, rant two years ago to either 'help a little with the program or shut it down.' We'll see what happens now that actual effort is going in the football direction but it can't be any worse and I predict it'll be A LOT better. I give it 4 years.

On occasion Tommy West would have to bus his team over to a local high school just to be able to practice. That's how bad things had gotten.

That's because they drew some lines on the ground and called it a practice field. As a consequence whenever it rained there were mud puddles all over the place. But nobody cared --- we had basketball season and then there was basketball recruiting season. It'll take a lot now just be become 'football average' IMO.

It is disappointing that the Tigers did not offer more resistance. However, the future holds promise because of the attention and resoures pouring into the program.

Well it's the truth. Your defensive game plan I thought was really good. You did a great job stopping our run early and pressuring our QB. I know we hit 2 big plays early, but 1 was just a 6'8 guy winning a jump ball and the other was a play I believe we fooled you on a little with our best receiver lining up in the backfield. Other than those 2 plays though your defense in the first half played great, and then they just wore down in the second half due to lack of depth.
