That is hilarious. Nobody campaigned louder than I did to get rid of him. The guy to ask is Steve Hare. Of course I am sure he would probably try to argue DH is doing this with Doug's players.
Even if true that would just make Doug a good recruiter but still not a great game coach. I think Doug helped the program but he was not the coach that could get us to winning seasons. I think he is more of a coordinator material.

Another great win, on the road for KSU! Luke Batton with 16 total tackles, wow. Can't say enough about the job that Anthony Melchiori did today, punting the football and pinning Army deep many times. Cortez had another consistent day, which is great to see.
And Dri Archer, 12 carries for 222 yds, incredible. Not to mention the halfback pass to Keith, right on the money.
There is no reason that Dix Stadium shouldn't be full next week and loud. The team is 5-1 and it is homecoming.

Anyone know if Tiggle's injury is serious or not? I am hoping that Hazell/staff held him out since KSU had a lead.

No one wanted to win at Kent State more than Doug Martin. Yes, we are winning with Martin's players. But we are also winning because of Hazell's ability. Real wins, not moral victories.

If one were to rank all the coaches in KSU's history, Martin would certainly rank closer to the top (Don James) than to the bottom (Pete Cordelli).

Maybe, however, Martin did just enough to not get fired under an AD that was on his way out (who we all know didn't want to mess with replacing the football coach). In my book, Martin wasn't any better than most of his predecessors. He was here 8 years and never had a single winning season.

I think it has more to do with a lack of pressure to win than an AD on his way out. With a tiny donor/contributing alumni base, lack of recent tradition and non-existant attendance/fan interest, firing him was never even considered.
Not sure why with a 5-1 team we're talking about the previous coach. We sound like Akron fans.

If someone tried to make that argument I would say, you can't have Lightening without Thunder. We're 6 games into the season and I can't wait for game 7. Can't say I remember that feeling.
Also, heck of a game by Melchoire today. Looks like we've got a reliable punter for the next 3.5 years.

Martin's winning percentage was better than 11 of the other 19 KSU head coaches. So, I stand by my comment that he was closer to the top than the bottom. Granted, that isn't saying much.

what we need is a HUGE crowd on Saturday, bring as many people as possible, get there early, tailgate, and let's all enjoy this season and ride the wave.
