TEXAS TECH GAME RELEASEQuote:The Game
(No. 5 Associated Press Poll/No. 4 USA Today Coaches Poll) West Virginia (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) travels to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) in a Big 12 Conference matchup at Jones AT&T Stadium (60,454) on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 3:30 p.m., ET. The game will be televised live on ABC.
This marks the second meeting between the two schools and the first between the two coaches. West Virginia won, 7-6, in the only meeting between the two schools in 1938, in El Paso. WVU coach Dana Holgorsen was the offensive coordinator at Houston in 2009, when the Cougars defeated the Red Raiders, 29-28, in Houston, and won 34-17, in 2010, when he was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State.
Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville has an 0-1 record against West Virginia. He was the head coach at Auburn in 2008, when he faced the Mountaineers in Morgantown, dropping a 34-17 decision.

RE: WVU-Texas Tech game
This game scares me. I said at the beginning of the season, that IF the Mountaineers got to 11-1, that one loss would be after a huge win at Texas playing at Texas Tech. Hope WVU can get it done again.

This team is taking on the personality of Coach Holgorsen. So I doubt they'll be caught off guard...

I absolutely see that as well in the team, we definitely have some swagger. Still, that is a lot of back and forth traveling in a week, and a pretty big high from beating Texas. Hope I'm wrong...wouldn't be the first time.

RE: WVU-Texas Tech game
I think Dana and Co tear tubby a new this weekend. Sadly, I will be there watching us lose yet another home game in Jones Stadium. The only positive is if Dana runs the score up, it might speed up tubby's exit from Lubbock.
To the Mountaineer fans making the trip, welcome to West Texas, Lubbock and Texas Tech.

RE: WVU-Texas Tech game
jml, unfortunately for you, I think you're pretty close to the mark. TT hired Tommy Tubs hoping he could keep the Red Raiders moving along like Mike Leach. But it ain't happening, and doesn't look like it will start to in the near future...
I've always liked Tuberville, because of all the crap he had to put up with at Auburn. He didn't deserve that. Although Auburn is getting their comeuppance. They've found out that Gene Chizak is a lousy coach without Tuberville's recruits, which most of the nation assumed already when Chizak was hired away from Iowa State...
But picking up Tuberville to keep Leach's momentum going was a bad move IMO. Air Raid coaches are different kinds of coaches, and Tommy Tubs, while being a very nice person, wasn't the right fit for TT. They should have hired a radical coach, like Leach...

Amen, bit. The hancers ( Tech chancellor) would scream from the mountain tops that tuBS is a good fit for Tech because he raises money, promotes the University, recruits fairly decent and fits in with the GOB's that love his off the field stuff. Doesn't mean squat if he doesn't produce wins on the football field. He has been a huge failure and I'm ready for a Leach disciple to come back and clean up tubby's mess.
I agree that Tubby is a fine man, a good christian conservative man, which are great qualities. I want football wins, not blowouts to Big 12 opponents in Jones Stadium.
Sad thing, outside of the absurd hancers, most Tech fans and Big 12 fans realize what you and I already know, that tubby was/is a bad fit in Lubbock. The hancers are just happy to have someone not named Leach because they hated winning and going to bowl games. They care more for a chancellor than the University.
Hance, James and certain members of the BOR can find a nice spot in the inner depths of a nice warm place and I wouldn't shed a tear. Just my brutal but honest opinion.

Politics has derailed more than one program. Just ask Nebraska fans about Steve Pederson (current Pitt AD)...

I can't speak for you but I think the term you are looking for is ego. Hance and certain members of the BOR let their egos get in the way and looked for a reason to crap can Leach. Craig James and his "female body part" son were the perfect punks to use. Unfortunately, Tech alums/fans/students are paying the price for incredibly stupid decisions made by the administration.
I will never root for Tech to lose, ever. That being said, if we lose to West Virginia, I would rather get blown out, then lose close. It counts the same in the W/L column but ultimately quickens tubby's exit from Lubbock. A close loss just gives the hancers a few more weeks until the wheels fall off against UT.

I'd much rather see TT get blown out myself. It's better for WVU that way. I'm glad we could agree...

Good Luck. Beating a weak tommy tuberloserville led squad will not help WVU's SOS. Sorry.

I had the same feeling when I looked at the schedue. In this league, sans Kansas; however, I think you must show up every week or you are doomed.

That crafty old man in Manhattan has been around the block a few times, and seen a lot of Air Raid offense in his time. KSU's not invincible, but if you do get that win, you'll definitely earn it.

Met a lot of cool West Virginia fans at the hotel before the game. Hung out with a few afterwards. Despite the score, they were welcomed by fans that come from the same type of disrespect. WVU fans travel and they enjoy being involved in big boy football now.
Bit, Lubbock might be the last place you want to visit but IMHO, you will miss out.

Good people who support football. I heard all weekend from Mountaineer fans that we have a lot in common. Passionate fan base, small college town etc.
Anyways, met a bunch of cool WVU fans and I hope to make the trip up to Morgantown next year.
