How did USM go from really good to really bad, seemingly overnight?

We've got 6 fumble recoveries and 6 picks through 4 games (that doesn't include the USM game). We're doing pretty good this season no matter who we're playing in that category. We won the BYU game on an interception return for a touchdown by our defensive tackle. Picked one for 6 against Michigan St as well. Our offense is still coming around by the D and special teams are playing as good as they need to.

USM lost their 5th year QB after last season...who started for USM for all 4 of his seasons.

Add in loss of Head Coach and some Asst Head Coaches from their 12-2 team...they have just imploded in most games (i.e. today, vs UL and vs ECU especially).

If USM ever cut down on dumb mistakes...they actually might be a pretty good team.

I wouldn't say USM imploded against UofL. They only had 1 turnover, and didn't give the game away. Playing the game in a lake negated UofL's talent advantage, especially with skill players on offense. Over 60 minutes the team with better talent won, but I didn't witness an implosion.

It's hard to get a lot of offensive yards when you are constantly starting on a short field. One of our touchdowns was something like 2 plays in 11 seconds. I thought we looked pretty good today. Still some stuff to work out, but getting there.

We will learn a lot more next Sat. Fresno brings the Dogs to town. They are not
the same breed they have had, plays more like there namesake, big bad Bulldogs.
Going to be a sell out again. This will be our last decent game at home this year,
have UNLV, CSU and SDSU to go, SDSU will be decent.
