Why would you want someone else, for you guys it will be like another home game. 05-stirthepot

Ha. We had 28k at our opener. U?

I do agree about south Florida. No team is going to draw well down there. Even Miami's attendance has been pathetic.

We had over 17k, for a game that had a week of the game date change due to huricane threat. Oh yeah, it was also a stand alone game without other games bringing in fans that wondered in and got counted.

Against Troy, like your first game, we had almost 24k in driving rain. I'd say that makes us even at best for you.

Come on guys focus, this thread isn't about you. This is about showing how crappy FIU fanbase is, and how CUSA made a big mistake in taking FIU.

So, please get the thread back on topic.

Going 0 fer so far on the year isn't going to draw flies to Legion Field, though. As bad as our attendance has been at some games it has never looked like FIUs home side tonight.

I would love to get into a conversation with UAb fans about taking over the Met and getting out of Legion Field. But, alas, I've been banned from the UAb side of this sight.... 05-ban

We don't want to play in another city. Have you ever seen attendance for the Barons games out there? People like to say they don't feel safe downtown but they weren't showing up in the burbs either.

I don't think it was bad for C-USA to take FIU, I think it's the best thing that could have happened to the belt.04-cheers

Welcome to CUSA! It won't matter if your team is winning, there will still be threads belittling your attendance.

They get about 2,500 per game, and that is 40+ games a season. We are talking about 6-7 home football games. I'm not saying this is the answer to the OCS, but it's got to be better then the current location.

We've played one game out there. Attendance was well below the season average. I think it's only an option if Legion Field caves in. Then it's really the only option.

The box score says 13,612. Of that 13,612, I wonder how many were actually there... I see guesses from about 1,500-4,000. LOL

Just an incredibly tough market. I remember when the 'Canes were top 5 every year and barely averaging 50k.

NHL was supposed to be a hit with the snowbirds. Didn't happen.

NBA has had mixed results.

MLB has struggled.

MLS failed.

Cannot believe their box score would show 13,612. Is that the number of yearly paid football ticket purchasers?
I watched the game and they had more people on the field than they did in the stands.

FIU has 48,000 students. Most are local and most will live in the Miami area after they graduate. Miami is a horrible sports town but unlike the U they can build a loyal hard core fan base large enough to fill a 25k stadium from their own alums

Sounds plausible but the history that I have seen from family personal experience would seem to indicate that this will not happen. Local or not Miami does not support anything unless it is trendy and sports teams are only trendy when they win. SO chances are FIU will only draw if they are doing well.

They support 1 thing... a winner!
As long as you win, and win consistently... they will come.

Though, last year when FIU was winning they still never got that good of attendance.

Not that we at FAU can talk, but we have not had a winning team in our on campus stadium, but when we do, the students will come. like they did for basketball, we filled the burrow every night when we were on our HOT Streak!

Is anyone sitting here surprised? There's no way CUSA chose them because of their attendance. The attendance at FIU and FAU has always been horrible.

well picking them for a market doesn't make sense either, just because Miami is one of the top markets, who cares if the market is not interested in the product. And the attendance is a direct reflection of the market's interest... ZERO!

So why did they pick them?
