RE: The Greatest CUSA Quotes of ALL-TIME. What are they?
We weren't CUSA, but my most memorable was a radio call on the Blue Raider Radio Network about 15 years ago. The shortest roller coaster ride in the world.

"here's the 41 yard field goal with 2 seconds on the clock and down by 1. Kick is away....it's good! It's good! Raiders win! Raiders win!......wait, it's wide right. Raiders lose."

Larry Fedora up by 38-14 at halftime and still pissed off about the previous year loss. "I wanna stick it in em"

Damn I miss that guy.

#1 --- "HAHAHAHahahahahahhooooo.....hehhehehehe - I TOLD you moving was stupid". Everyone NOT in the nbe when ul and the C7 abruptly departed and effectively rendered all non cartel conferences virtually indistinguishable from one another.

#2 --- "Oh crap - collectively we've paid millions and millions of dollars to be right where we were just before we paid millions and millions of dollars". Everyone IN the nbe who joined the nbe with the expectation that the nbe was going to remain basically equal to the old b/e.

You left one off...

#3 --- "WTF!" - UTEP, Marshall, USM, UAB, and Rice when they realize they've traded games against long-established foes for a group of Sun Belt and FCS schools they would have considered "buy games" just a couple years ago.

Well, maybe....but not in MY mind (yes, to many folks, but certainly not to all of us). To me, C-USA lost exactly memphis basketball only - nothing else. There is no boise level football team leaving.....and boise is no giant to begin with.

Fans of C-USA schools going to the nbe most often post that they are now in a much better football position than before. They are a LITTLE better, but far far far away from MUCH better. Effectively it's a dropping of SOUTHERN MISS and a pick up of cinci and uconn.....

BB is a big improvement - but not football. I can assure you that people who are prominent in the cartel conferences don't see a nickels worth of difference in nbe and nC-USA. Sorry, but it's just a fact. nbe sucks. MAC sucks. MWC sucks. SB sucks. And, yes, even my C-USA sucks. None are really in any better position than any of the others.

We didn't trade them... it was through no action of ours that these "long-established foes" decided the grass was greener on the other side and deserted us.

PRE-C-USA SOUTHERN MISS Coach - P.W. "Bear" Underwood.

"If it ain't black and gold, fu<& it". Said at a Friday night football pep rally. Man of few words - he got up to speak to the gathered students, alumni and fans present. It's all he said. No preamble. No acknowledging the ensuing uproar. Just walked to the mic, said it, and left.

Coach Corky Palmer after a blowout loss to LSU!

" it's my fault guys, not yours, I'm the one who recruited your sorry asses. Half of you want be here next year anyway, mark it down!"
