I really didn't know who else I could put that weekend. Everyone else has rivalry games.

RE: Slow week due to bye...Predict the 2013 Pitt FB schedule
I think the schedule is going to look more like this:

8/31: Villanova(H)
9/7: FSU(H)
9/14: New Mexico(H)
9/21: Georgia Tech(A)
9/28: BYE
10/5: Virginia(H)
10/12: Virginia Tech(A)
10/19: North Carolina(H)
10/26: Navy(A)
11/2: Syracuse(A)
11/9: NOTRE DAME(H)
11/16: BYE
11/23: Miami(H)
11/30: Duke(A)

I too believe that FSU will occur very early in the schedule so as to not screw them over by playing in a brisk fall or in the snow. I believe that BC and Syracuse will be playing each other on rivalry week. The only school in the Coastal that I do not believe has a natural rivalry in FB is Duke. My money is on Pitt and Duke playing during rivalry week. I could also see them swapping Miami out of the 11/23 slot in order to avoid the snow. But at this point I wouldn't know who they would swap that game with that is still a home game. Since Miami has experience playing wintery games, maybe it will stay as is. But I'll bet it's been awhile since Miami played in the north in Nov/Dec.

any chance you guys move the villanova game to another date and open the season at home vs florida state as the acc usually has a labor day night game on espn and looking at option fsu and pitt make the most sense ?

Well, FSU already has Wofford scheduled the first week as well. So, they would also have to swtich and who knows what Wofford and Villanova have scheduled the second week? Lots of dominos involved.

looks like your acc opener will be at georgia tech as there are only 5 acc teams not playing non conference that week: pit,gt, wake,bc and fsu(bc probably goes on bye this week as they have usc the following week on the road) leaving florida state @wake forest and pittsburgh @Georgia Tech for 9/7. As for syracuse game vs Pittsburgh my money is on that game being 11/23 with pittsburgh hosting miami on 11/30(lack of options considering maryland likely is at nc state and duke at north carolina as they have been recently.

I don't have a good feel for which schools the ACC will try to "protect" from winter weather vs those that won't be afforded the same "courtesy". My guess is that whenever possible, the ACC will try to have Pitt play Syracuse, VT and Miami later in the season on a regular basis - probably mostly because VT and Miami are experienced with the cold due to their BE days plus Syracuse is a northern team (dome? what dome?).

Pittsburgh's weather for the most part doesn't really get bad until after the New Year anymore. Our last game is the first Satruday of December... it still gets cold in Virginia. I don't think weather is a big factor here?

It hasn't the last few years, but that can change in the next few years. Even if the weather never gets below 32 deg well into Nov, 40s and drizzling rain would still suck for the Carolina and Florida schools IMHO.

I think we are on a warming trend not cooling. Mind you I didn't say "Global Warming"... just that the Earth goes in hot/cold cycles. I see it being an issue for say FSU / Miami but the Mid-Atlantic states have pretty chilly weather as well.

You may be right. But even if the weather is not a whole lot different, I believe a number of the ACC schools will complain about playing in the north late in the season.
