RE: Season Projection Articles 2012-13
I could completely agree with the Michigan vote. They have a solid core of players, and their lone question mark is in net.

As for Miami? No. Just no. They lose a too much all over the place including a Hobey Baker Finalist (Smith) and TWO decorated goalies (Knapp was CCHA goalie of the year last year and Reichard was CCHA player of the year in 2009-10). Austin Czarnik and the rest of the young fellas shouldn't be expected to contend this early. Maybe next year

WEST (1st Team)
G. - Frank Slubowski - Western Michigan (SO.)
Slubowski won nearly 60% of his games as a freshman, and with one of the top bluelines playing in front of him in Kalamazoo, we look for the Sophomore to dominate the opposition this year.

WEST (2nd Team)
D. - Dan DeKeyser - Western Michigan (JR.)
DeKeyser is the key returning piece to the Bronco blueline that is expected to be one of the top units in the country. We expect the Junior to have a tremendous season in Kalamazoo.

WEST (Honorable Mention)
F - Chase Balisy - Western Michigan (JR.)

whoa. Somebody in there has Slubowski for Hobey. I'm certain this would be huge for our program if ANYBODY pulled that off.

7 of the 15 had the Broncos in the frozen four and TWO picked them to win it. Wow. No more flying under the radar on the national scene.

But - if Ferris can make it to the national championship game, so can our Broncos, who owned FSU last year. First things first, though. Win the CCHA and the final Mason Cup. 05-mafia

As for the logo, I'd prefer they used the composite logo with the W and the Bronco. Distinctive and different.

Likewise. I feel like the one they use looks cheap, while the composite logo is distinguished

I honestly can't stand it when WMU uses the W.

We're Western Michigan. Not just Western.

The Bronco head is one of the best logos in sports period. Use it fully. Don't stick a giant W behind it.

If you're going to use letters, throw in an M in with it.

7 of the 15 people picked WMU to be in the Frozen Four.

It's f-ing amazing where this program has come from in the last three years.

I'm with ya. This turnaround's been nothing short of amazing.

Whoever made that "awaken a sleeping giant" comment a couple years ago was onto something...

RE: Season Projection Articles 2012-13
Just noticed this from way back in May - don't recall it getting posted...

INCH has us listed at #5 in their "10 for '13" article.

Quote:First-year head coach Andy Murray kept the Western on the path Jeff Blashill forged, leading the Broncos to a second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and the school’s first CCHA tournament title since 1986. This season looks just as promising. The team’s three leading scorers—forwards Balisy, Berschbach, and Dane Walters—are back. So, too, are five regulars from one of the country’s best collection of defensemen, led by Dan DeKyser and Luke Witkowski. Then there’s goalie Frank Slubowski, arguably the Broncos’ most valuable player from a year ago when, as a freshman, he posted a 2.03 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

From the DD article:
"With forward Shane Berschbach suspended for at least the first series of the season for violating team rules".

I think he is out this weekend as well, not sure how many more games after that.
