You can talk all the crap you want about attendance. However, you may not have known the campus received over six inches of rain and was under a flash flood advisory. Many roads around the area were closed since they were under water. Those that drove cars instead of canoes to the stadium had a very difficult time parking their cars since most of the parking turned into a lake. The rest was a giant mud pit. Here is what one of the main parking areas looked like from the top of the stadium:

In the case of students, there was no dry path from the dorms to the student gate. None. I am kind of pissed at FIU for not letting us enter through other gates but that is beside the point. So pretty much if you were a student and wished to go to the game you had to wade through a foot of water. Unsurprisingly, many did not wish to do so and would rather watch the game on ESPN3. I have a hard time blaming them.

Thank you for sharing your interest in FIU football attendance.

Here is another view of a different parking area taken at halftime:

As you can see the waters have still barely subsided even with the great South Florida absorbency we have in our soils. It is indeed quite unfortunate that we had quite possibly the rainiest day in years at FIU on the day of the biggest home game in years.

In order to have an interest in Attendance one must first produce it yes? 04-cheers

I kid, I kid. 03-cloud9

FAU has 0 room to talk and I have to admit if I were not in the covered area for FAU's stadium I would be hard pressed to attend a game in the downpours we were having.

When FIU first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a Stadium on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest Stadium in all of Miami.

I understand, I guess the students at FAU care more about their school and having a good time than the students at University of Miami Community Coll- I mean FIU.

Might want to wait a bit. 2 home games are not a real barometer.

Troy vs. Mississippi State - 29,013
ULM vs. Baylor - 31,175
WKU vs. Kentucky - 23,252

I don't see Troy breaking their new 29,013 record again this season. ULM might break their 31,000+ if they keep getting better, but I doubt it. GO SBC!

If UL and ULM go on a winning streak, there will be a bunch us fans there.. I know a bunch of Cajun fans plan on making the trip..

I do have to compliment ULM on thier Friday game. That stadium was PACKED and the crowd noise was awesome. Could be clearly heard over the TV. EVERY shot of the stadium showed it filled.

Kudos.

From what people are saying, that is a very gracious number. Tickets distributed maybe. But apparently the actual number was less than 5k. Since I wasn't there, I couldn't tell ya for sure.

Thank you for once again proving the GaSot fans are clueless. Nobody who was there has even remotely suggested the number was 5,000. It was actually not much worse than the week before, with the exception of the student section which was dismal.

Congrats on such amazing numbers ....But FIU doesn't have the following ULL has so far in our development. However, as you can see in those pictures, FIU was basically under water at game time. The roads in Miami, and in and around FIU were almost impossible to drive in 3-4 hours before game time. It's obvious it affected attendance. I mean, we had almost 4,000 more fans for Akron than Louisville, that must tell you something.

Looking at how Greek Life has tripled since 2010, amount of on campus housing requests has risen 4 fold since 2010, student turnouts at football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer games, the amount of new student housing style apartments around campus, and the rezoning of 20th St for more college bars/cubs, I agree with you 100%.
Now I'm not saying that the majority of FIU students will NEVER be FIU fans first. If FIU keeps doing what they're doing, they could be the #1 team in Miami-Dade (yes over UM). But as of right now, FAU student life > FIU student life. Unless Kendall goes through some MAJOR changes like Boca Raton is doing now, it could stay that way for a while.

Enjoy that ass kicking coming to y'all come November. I know all 200 students that care about FIU won't when they realize that the missed out on a great college life experience that FIU and the Kendall area fails to provide.
It's okay, I'd be butt hurt if I hated my college years and I only beat my "rival" once too. Thank God I don't have to go through that.

Why are you mad? Yep, FAU has an incredible fan base.....03-lmfao Please......

Yep, I agree with that, nasty weather notwithstanding. Our home attendance currently maxes out at about 22-23k fans, while you basically max at 32-34k. We are in year 11 of our program, while your program is in its 112th year. If we are lucky, maybe we could reach your level in the future.
