How do you guys remain optimistic about your football program after all these years of major suckitude? I really envy you all.

they weren't optimistic last year. They made a terrific coaching hire in the offseason and think that he will eventually turn the program around. Sort of how SMU fans were optimistic when we made the June Jones and Larry Brown hires.

Of course, June is flaming out

Dude, are you trolling? We aren't Memphis State any more, and you know that, and we've sucked for 3 years, not "all these years." We went to 5 bowls in 6 years in the last decade or so.

And if you're really a HS senior, as you claim, then you're not old enough to even remember when we were called Memphis State. Not that I care, since that's where I graduated from, but you're starting to smell a little fishy.

1. We have all of the pieces necessary to have a good football program. We aren't much different than UL and UC and they have been able to get it done in the Big East. Tommy West proved that you can win at Memphis and we believe the right coach can accomplish what UL and UC have accomplished in the Big East.

2. Everybody is excited when they get a new coach.

The name was changed from Memphis State almost 20 years ago. It doesn't bother me because I actually went to MSU, but now it's UofM.

Is there a particular need to constantly kick the dog when it's sick? Seriously, do we need a million ******* threads stating the obvious?

I find it really interesting that someone who was born in 1995 would use the term Memphis State considering that the name was changed in 1994.

Because we have invested in top facilities and are about to soon break ground on a IPF with an indoor track for the T&R program. We're looking at upgrading our medical staff too. The Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium just completed a two-phase renovation that included a top notch field turf, a $2.5 million video board that is top 10 in the nation, new concourse work including a stadium restaurant, the gorgeous Tiger Lane tailgating area, and other improvements. The LBMS now looks as nice as any other CUSA stadium does. We now have a WINNER for a coach for a change, just not winners good enough to compete on the field just yet. We have a starving fanbase waiting to get excited about Tiger football and last two home games with an average of 35,000 per game is proof of that.

Our biggest problem has been the AOB and the fact that we have a female president who like most women doesn't care about football nor understand how much sports revenue generates throughout the entire university. But she's on her way out soon so we'll see even more change then.

Being in the Big East will only impact fan support, recruiting and potential even further.

Someone should start a thread asking Cal State-San Diego and State University of New Jersey fans how they feel about their team going forward as well.

I think Memphis State will be the nom de troll for U or M pretty much forever, much like VPI in Blacksburg.

Which is silly. It's a perfectly fine name, and certainly was when i graduated from there. But it's a pretty easy tipoff that somebody's trying to tweak somebody, lol. I thought we called him out pretty fast, actually.

Why do you care if they call it Memphis State? The only thing I remember about that name was beating ya'll 4 times in one season when you were called MSU.

Intent was to slightly rile up the Memphis fans, however, I do like Memphis State much better because I think it had a nicer ring to it (That and I hate the initials UofM) nd thank you Memphis fans for your reasoning of optimism. I really do hope you guys can do well in the BEast.
