You are where Memphis is; that is neither team has any wins.

We have hope of better things to come this season, because of changes that have been made. You guys look like dog crap, and I don't really see much chance of that making a turn for the better in the near future.

We can talk about winning the conference and we may not get close. You guys can't even try to talk about it without it being sunshine pumping of the highest order.

RE: I think we look ahead a couple. We need to focus on Tulsa
Forgive me if i sound silly or stupid, we may have a little bit better matchup against ohio state. OSUs d may be better overall but i think our o line wont be disrupted as much by their d line. JP may not be too scared too put the ball in the receivers numbers. If we can contain braxton miller. He may force throws resulting in turnovers early in drives on their side of the 50. As stated in a previous thread by another, i was harsh on assessing JPs performance last nite. Hes never seen a d line as nasty as that or played in a stadium as loud as that. He did start off sharp though. I dont expect to win or for it to be close. i just like our chances of scoring a td a little better. Im not willing to look forward to tulsa just yet.

Ohio State is important because we play them NEXT and is the only game we can win on 9/22/12.

Tulsa is our first conference game and the only game we can win that Saturday. I just hope we have a team at full strength for the conference run of games since we need every one of our starters to be healthy.

We fans can do whatever the hell we want, so long as the TEAM is thinking about the Yuckeyes.

We go from chickens to bitter nuts.

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

Memphis has been losing a lot of games for a lot of seasons. So has UAB, even if you don't want to admit it. The difference is I realize hopes and dreams don't count for crap. Wins count. Moral victories don't get you in bowl games or basketball tournaments.

How 'bout this: we both suck and the only team we consistently beat is Memphis?

Have you ever heard of an adverb?

Second, your statement is only accurate if you consider three years to be "consistent". After all, Memphis football beat UAB in 2008 and 2007. Beating a team consistently is what our basketball team does to the UAB basketball team.

Heh, I see your sense of history matches my grammar.

Why did your stroll down memory lane stop at '07?

Memphis owns UAB in basketball. UAB to a slighter degree owns Memphis in football. Memphis and UAB both suck at football and have a for some time. I don't know what else there is to say.

So you're saying since we're both awful at it we should keep to our respective boards?

No I'm saying we have two Memphis people over here talking about FOOTBALL.

Futbol, Ethel. On the UAB board no less. Well I guess they can't go over and chatter with the boys from Arky-Lite. Amirite?

It's true.

I can understand why they don't want to talk football on their board. They only really focus on football for about two weeks out of the year

Memphis is essentially where UAB was in 2007. Need to tear everything down and start building a solid program at the foundations...which happen to be located far away - literally and metaphorically - from gamedays. Will you guys give the new staff the time and support to do that? Is the staff motivated to do that? With the imminent move to the NBE - assuming that still exists in 2014 - there will be tons of pressure to take shortcuts. We've had experience with that, too, it so happens...they were the reason UAB fball was such a FUBAR in 2007.

They gave a stout Iowa State team the business before succumbing in the first week.

Their other victories against Nichols and Tulane don't tell us much.

They have Fresno this coming Saturday which should speak volumes. And it's on TV so be sure to check it out.

If I'm coach I go somewhat vanilla for our second body bag game and really put a laser sight on September 29th.

A win over the always solid Hurricane would be very much a signature for the new team and staff and set up a series of competitive bouts.

Right now I actually see 4 wins, but if we take one from Tulsa I can actually see 7 from this team and a crazy bowl berth in a rebuilding year...

I just don't see spending a lot of physical or psychic currency on another game where we are guaranteed to lose, even if we start to win.

I'm not saying play to lose at OSU, I'm just saying that I wouldn't show Tulsa anything interesting filmwise and I'd have the players focused on doing the best fundamentally on each play vs. getting all up in the game with the jabber jawin' and such. Kinda be automatic and focus on the next play. Hey if that's enough to win then so be it. Focused and dispassionate. Ironically that's how Tulsa plays. They are like the borg. We aren't and are always an emotional team, but vs OSU we should be more like them so we can save up and be more like US when Tulsa comes to town.
[/quo

This is the dumbest sh!t I have ever read from a fan of a program.

Personally, I wouldn't hold anything back against OSU.

If you execute the plays well, the other team can know what you are doing & still not stop you.

We have a decent chance against OSU. The Buckeyes are a threat to make more mistakes than our guys.
