This ^^^, I didn't know. Thanks for the info Htown.
Don't know how they managed to negotiate that, but good for them!
A ni$e in$entive for Texa$ to $tay.
Do you mean the contract says they get paid for a Championship Game?
TV networks aren't going to give you money for nothing.
It can be worded in the contract any way you want. I'd bet TV was willing to pay that extra amount for the regular season rights and just moved the money to a different part of the contract. Everybody's happy.
We will find out for sure if the Big 12 expands and has a CG. I'd bet they get even more money.

RE: McMurphy: ACC will not go to 16 teams
Regardless of whether or not the CCG adds significantly more money, UofL and UC give the Big 12 nothing outside of the default 12 for a CCG. Do they really want more teams on par with Kansas and ISU? Maybe Baylor or K-State on a good year?
Nobody wants UCF and USF. If they become super powers over the next 10 years, meaning top 10 programs like Boise is now, the Big 12 might look at them then because its Orlando and Tampa, something Boise will never have going for it.
Another thing you can do is BYU football only and go with UofL in all sports. ND in the Big 12 may have all but iced that scenario because that would provide an even 12 in all sports as well as bridge WVU. Now that possibility is gone.
RU/UConn are just too far and too impractical. I don't see the fit there. How do the divisions shake out in that scenario? You could have those five "east" teams paired with maybe TCU and Baylor while everyone else goes into the west. Pretty ugly from a geography and balance stand point.

They had their seat, the Big East wouldn't be out of the picture & have this bad perception if they actually won football games and BCS games.
Utah, TCU (and Boise State) have won football games in big BCS bowls against big time teams (Alabama, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, etc.). If UCONN did that in the Fiesta Bowl, maybe the perception of the conference would have been better.
I don't know how Utah and TCU "screwed" anyone, why would they stay in the MWC instead of the PAC-12 and Big 12?

I think there could be more movement later, but for now, I think realignment is dormant, at least.

RE: McMurphy: ACC will not go to 16 teams
The only remaining Big East school that makes any sense for the ACC is Villanova. Long range, the ACC wants Notre Dame for football, but such a shift is at least a decade away. Villanova has the option to keep football in FCS, and upgrade later, if Notre Dame ever decides to go all-in. Georgetown and St. John's can't do this. The Wildcats would also offer the ACC a foothold in the Philadelphia market while avoiding their inevitable overshadowing by Temple.
