Polls show Southern whites won't vote for President due to his religion & background
Oops, I meant Presidential candidate.
Quote:Reuters/Ipsos polling data compiled over the past several months shows that, across the Bible Belt, 38 percent of these voters said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who is "very wealthy" than one who isn't. This is well above the 20 percent who said they would be less likely to vote for an African-American.
Quote:According to Reuters/Ipsos polling data, however, 35 percent of voters overall, and the same proportion of lower- and middle-income white Bible Belt voters, say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who is Mormon.
Southern whites troubled by Romney's wealth, religion

Sooo people who base their vote on religions, gender, and race are between a rock and a hard place.
Vote for the wealthy, white, but overtly mormon republican.
or Vote for the black, suspected-to-be-muslim democrat.
Or you could, you know, not be bigotted and base it on their credentials.
Personally, I don't like either one of them, and I won't be voting for either.

Oh, but if you do that, you are splitting the vote. A principled vote for an alternate candidate is a vote for Obama, don't you know?

Don't polls show that a large number of those bible belt voters don't actually know that Romney is Mormon? This is an issue the leftist super pacs could use if Obama gets more desperate.

I know that my bosses and people around me who are registered Republicans like him because he is 'Christian'.
Disregard the fact that Mormonism is nowhere near genuine, truthful Christianity. They use extra-canonical documents that pervert the truth of the doctrine of Christ, and the founding leaders of the church certainly weren't 'saints' by any means.
The idea that Romney is Christian is like suggesting the existence of The United States of America is a work of fiction. It just isn't true.
