Ryan said in Colorado that he supports states right to decide on the issue not the federal government. States rights canidate. This really is the difference between the parties. One party belives in a strong central government and the other is for states rights except those required in the constitution for the federal goverment which is primarly national defense and treaties with foreign nations.

This is a pretty big deal. The big ups in the RNC are green lighting this. He didn't say this without permission. They are giving in a bit.

I have not heard Mittens expound the same view. Ryan is not going to be setting policy.

Only because independents in Colorado are seriously pissed about Obama waging war on dispensaries there, and the GOP feels like they've got a chance.

Me too, for my medical condition of fatigue... Brought on by an over-bearing tax system and lack of 40 hour jobs (and by that I mean most are now 50 hour, thanks Clinton, GWB & Obama)

So would Ryan want all controlled substances to be left up to the states and by that I'm sure he mean the voters to decide?

Med Marijuana should be a State Issue. If the Dispensery meets State Law requirements the Feds should butt out.

THIS is another example of why I believe the GOP will loose. They absolutely do not understand that independents are going to decide this election and this is an important issue with them. Over and over they continue to ignore this voting block.

It should go further than this...but...at least would be a start. All that has to be done is remove Cannabis from schedule one status. The rest will take care of itself.

Before that happens, the government is going to have to release some truths and rescind the lies. Pure hogwash has been spread regarding cannabis over the past 3+ generations and that many people actually believe it. There would be a huge backlash if it were removed from the list.

1) This is to try to peel support away from Gary Johnson, who is in the double digits in Colorado
2) It is purely hollow rhetoric that in NO WAY matches how those clowns would actually govern
3) Betcha all the same RINO water carriers (*cough* Rush *cough*) who decry the use of pot will seem to oddly ignore this.

When I hear Romney make a pledge to remove Cannabis as a schedule one drug...then Ill believe any of this. The funny thing is that this issue could be the one that could get the GOP in the White House and the leadership is too scared to use it. There are very powerful organizations and people that have a direct stake in keeping Cannabis illegal. Those people are the ones that are pulling the strings and have been for decades. When you release Cannabis from schedule one...you instantly make hemp legal to grow.

I have believed for a long time that timber,paper,chemical and big pharma interests have had a lot to do with keeping Cannabis illegal. This goes much deeper than worrying about the psychoactive properties of pot. It is about industrial protectionism.
