I think chaning the name would be a mistake. However, I'm all for changing the logo to reflect that the Big East is now a national conference.

My idea for a logo is to have the outline of the continental United States as the background/outline of the logo with the words Big East either fitting into the outline or as a banner across the outline. I don't have good photoshop skills, but I'm sure somebody can give it shot.

Below the word Tennessee is in the outline of the state of TN. We could have the words Big East in the outline of the United States.

Or maybe a new logo where the dot of the eye of the letter i in the word Big is a small USA. Somewhat silly, but an idea.

I have an idea for one. I'll draw up an original and post it for everyone's opinion.

I remember Mike Aresco talking about this in an interview on radio. From what I remember they were talking about it but he noted that their is great value in the Big East "brand". He also said something about just updating/simplifying the logo... possibly including a pic of the USA somehow to represent the Big East as a national conference. I could envision an outline of the USA with Big East inlaid on top... maybe with stars/school logo's on the map to represent the FB schools... who knows. I really don't think they will change the name... way to much name brand value (particularly in basketball). If the the Big 10 can have 12 teams and the SEC have teams that are midwest and the PAC 12 have teams that are in the Mountains and the Big 12 can only have 10 teams the Big East can be a national conference.

Something like this but with the Big East Logo on the inlaid on top of the map... or maybe they redesign the Big East logo... new/modern lettering etc...

You do realize we have a few more basketball teams than you depicted on your map, right?

They're actually in the Big East, too.

Presumably that would be just a logo for football and you could keep the old one or come up with a different new one (maybe just a different map) for basketball. Or heck put all the teams on it.

I agree changing the Big East name itself though would be a very bad idea. It may be seen as less than the other 5 in football, but it was always considered a BCS/AQ conference. That means something. You don't want people starting to think of it as the new Conference USA or something which is a risk with a name change. Also in basketball the name is pretty valuable.

No, to different maps for football and basketball. That would just get some ECU fans all hot and bothered that the BE was going to split, and they would get an invite.
