Bottom 10 - Week 1
4. Middle Tennessee
After losing five straight season openers, three against BCS teams, why not ease into the season with an FCS foe? Oops. The Blue Raiders made it six in a row after falling 27-21 to McNeese State.

8. South Alabama
South Alabama was seconds away from a win in its first game as an FBS member, but a 51-yard field goal with 16 seconds remaining gave UTSA a 33-31 win over the Jaguars in what was an early contender for Pillowfight of the Year.

MTSU vs FAU as pillowfight of the week.

Completely justified IMHO.

Without looking ahead at other games for the following weekend, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we're in the pillow fight of the week back to back weeks as we play @ Memphis next week.

Good grief that's bad. Do you think Standstill is going to keep his job after this season?

Too early to tell, if we're even remotely on the fence on the issue, he stays due to finances.

I'm not holding my breath, but we could certainly turn this season around, it was just last season that a member of this conference got blasted at home by a FCS opponent(one more than likely not as good as McNeese) and ended up still going 7-5, again, not holding my breath, but it could happen. FAU and Memphis were our two wins from last season and both had at least equally abysmal week 1 performances as we did, on paper our game looks the worst, but we also played the toughest opponent out of the three of us.

We need to beat FAU and Memphis to have any shot at having a season in which we can justify keeping him around, if we beat the both of them, I circle ULM as the next key game, as a victory against ULM on homecoming would(presumably) make us 3-3 heading to Miami to play FIU, if we can manage a victory in Miami, we head to Starkville at 4-3, so even after they more than likely facedrag us up and down the field for four quarters, we're sitting at 4-4 with South Alabama still to play. Provided we can beat South Alabama, a win against UNT or WKU would get us to 6-6.

Now having said all that, I have a tough time believing this team can beat anyone on the schedule outside of FAU, Memphis, and USA and I'm not sure I believe we will beat all three of them.

I went into this season thinking he was set up nicely to at least buy some more time, with what should have been a minimum of four wins on the schedule(McNeese, FAU, Memphis, USA) and while 4-8 is a far cry from where we want to be, it would at least be marked improvement from last year, but then we crapped the bed against McNeese. I think 3-9 might be enough for finances gets him a stay of execution till at least next season, anything worse than 3-9 and I just don't think any amount of financial impact can save him.

UAb is in there 22nd year of football history and they are ranked #9, USA in our 4th year, ranked #8. Gotta love all that tradition UAb has created over the last two+ decades. 05-stirthepot

We deserve to be in the bottom 10 this week. If we could solve our turnover problem, we probably will get out of it.

I agree, I'll take our loss against McNeese any day over a loss to TN-Martin.

The Sun Belt last year beat San Diego State, Louisville, UAB twice, Memphis twice, Central Florida, Akron, Kent State, Indiana among others. I don't think the MVFC could manage that.

Take it to Any Given Saturday.
