IRS's guide to "How to Watch Football in the Alamdome"
The guys over at Inside Runner Sports posted this on their forum, titled "How to Watch Football in the Alamodome". It's meant more for the casual fans but feel free to check it out too and share it among relatives, friends and co-workers:

"Last year was a historic season of firsts and records. QB Eric Soza’s first offensive touchdown, LB Steven Kurfehs’ first defensive touchdown, multiple attendance records as well as other on-the-field accolades. It was also a season of first for the fans as well, who also went through some growing pains along the way.

For this season, InsideRunnerSports has decided to help out the fans a little in an effort to make the game watching experience in the Alamodome better for all. Let us preface this by saying we’re not talking to the RunnerNation diehards who eat, sleep, and breathe UTSA Football. This guide is for the more casual fan: your wife, a girlfriend, the in-laws, a brother-in-law, a cousin visiting from out of town, the co-worker you convinced to come to the game with you, and any novice who doesn’t necessarily understand proper protocol at a UTSA Football Game

Here we go:

Get Your Bird’s Up
The Roadrunner hand signed is correctly displayed by making a fist while extending out the thumb and the pinky finger. Now here’s the important part that most novice fans fail to execute, this hand gesture must be performed with the palm of your hand facing out/away from your body. If you make this gesture palm facing in, you could be mistaken as a surfer trying to hang-10. Throw your birds up early and thrown them up often.

3rd Down Situations – Pre Snap
This was a huge problem in 2011. Let’s be clear and make it simple. When UTSA has the ball on offense, under no circumstances should the noise level increase prior to the snap of the ball. We understand that to the novice fan, this goes against your natural reflexes. Typically the public address announcer will say “third and 4” and what is supposed to happen is that the crowd remains quiet. In 2011, the opposite of happened and the noise of the crowd increased. This is actually a distraction to the offensive players. This is even more amplified when the ball is near any of the goal lines. The crowd noise level is a critical component to the home field advantage.

Now on defensive (when the opposing team has the ball) stand up, make noise and chant defense. You are even allowed to make a homemade D-Fence sign. Encourage others around you to stand up. There is no more important play than a 3rd down on defense. The place should be as loud as can be. This distracts the opposing team and encourages the Roadrunner defenders.

No Down In Front
Don’t get overly upset that someone is standing up in front of you. This is not the library. Most fans jump up out of their seats during tense moments or choose to stand prior to and through an important play during the game. Make every effort not to get upset and not continually ask the person to sit down. Most people will comply to requests if asked politely. Be understanding of the game situation and try not to get upset.

Don’t Get Over-Indulge
Even though the Alamodome serves alcohol, don’t over-indulge. We’ve all seen that person and you don’t want to be them. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying an adult beverage responsibility, but not to the point where it leads to expletives and obscene gestures. Surround yourself with people who can assist you and provide you a safe ride home should you decide to consume alcohol.

Wear Orange (or Blue)
The color scheme is simple. If you don’t own apparel with a UTSA logo on it, most major clothing lines offer several variations in casual clothing that goes with the orange and blue color scheme. Whatever specific clothing you choose, make sure it’s a color of a team playing during the game. Leave the throwback Earl Campbell/Roger Starbach jersey or the Longhorn/Aggie T-shirt at home. There are various locations to purchase UTSA apparel.

We’re fairly certain if RunnerNation diehards share this guide to watching a game in the Alamodome, the experience will be better for all."

What do y'all think? Feel free to reply back with your thoughts and opinions and also reply back with anything else that you think should be added to this list.
