Not smacking here... they will be lucky to win 1 FCS game this year. MEAC teams are terrible. This was supposed to be their warm up game. The CAA is going to murder them.

I wouldnt agree with all that but it does look bad that for them right now.

This isn't as bad as say, Middle Tennessee, a FBS school, losing to FCS McNeese State. That shouldn't be happening.

I don't think you appreciate just how bad SC State is. Georgia Southern is 7-0 against them, good thing we have a small media market otherwise that might matter.

That's true, Georgia Southern beat a playoff worthy SCSU pretty badly...I wouldn't pick Georgia State to beat anyone this season.

SC State is not a bad football team. They're not a tradition power in the MEAC but for the last 7 years or so they've been pretty good and took App. State down to the wire twice in the playoffs. Yes you guys smash them a few years ago down there but they are by no means a bad football team.

I like talking sports in general being a former player and all. Ive tried with a few other guys to set up the ASU board but our fans have been stuck on TSPN and Onnidan, kinda hard to get them to venture into anything new.

Played @ Fresno State 2002, and Bama State from 03-06. Our offense was terrible than year. That was that 38-0 down there. I think we may have had 6 first downs that game.

RE: Game Day! (GSU vs. SC State 7:30 P.M.)
SC State was in the top 30 of most preseason polls (not that that matters). This was an important game for GA State because it won't get easier next week. Naturally, I didn't see the game but the stats indicate State didn't run the ball enough, neither QB could find rhythm, and their defensive backs had problems. Week 2 is where GA State could have used a DII team (I'm resisting the easy smack here) because their players need confidence. They need a Clark ATL on their schedule asap. There are a few teams on GA State's schedule that aren't any better than SC State but 4-5 of them would dominate SC St at every phase of football. Just one game.

I dont know that much about SC State except they're FCS. If they're a playoff team in FCS, they should be beating most FCS teams. Georgia State is a FCS program. They lost to a program in their own division. I dont expect them to go undefeated in FCS.

We are feeling as bad or worse. Heard several people ask aloud in the parking lot including my wife "Can a conference univite you?"

Worse home loss in our short history. The worst part is that the students came out BIG. Looked like 10k of the 18k. They have no reason to return in 2 week vs. UTSA.

Nope, search is supposedly ongoing now although I doubt it since our AD is too busy shopping for Prada bags and $1000 boots. She needs to go first.

Here is what I think is ultimately the problem for Ga State. They moved up to fast.

We hear all the time about the amount of students, their budget, being in ATL etc. many make comparisons to USF. But I think we are talking apples and oranges and here's why.

USF is located in Tampa. The state is ruled by UF and FSU like Georgia is ruled BY UGA and GT. The difference, I think is USF has the benefit of UF being over a 2 hours and FSU being roughly 5 hours away. Ga State has both programs right in their back yard. People will show up for USF games that are alumni or fans of UF and FSU because it is not convenient for them to make the drive to see their schools. I don't see that happening for Ga State.

Ga State needed to build a following in FCS. Win some games, get some better players and then make the move. At this point, I feel they have to big of a moutain to climb to ever be successful at the FBS level. I just don't believe recruits are going to go to Ga State just because they are in ATL or they play in the Dome if they aren't winning. If that is the case, how do they ever improve?

Naw, that aint it. Look at ODU. Lets call a spade a spade. Fire everyone at 125 Decatur Street. Our AD is a moron. Most morons are at least smart enough to surround themselves with subject matter experts to make themselves look better. But she isnt even that smart. As for the football program its the coaching. Period. Our #1 RB is a transfer from Kentucky, Donald Russell. He got 120 yards on 10 carries. He is all man. Unfortunately our OC thinks he's some sort of genius. We drove all the way down the field from our 25 on one drive to their 7 with Donald carrying the ball. We get to their 7 and false start penalty (Pass?). Then three straight passes! Missed field goal. Its been two years of this crap. The talent is there. We have 2 NFL'ers and one Arena League player off of last year's Sr. class. So what's the problem? Coaching. As for the abysmal crowd of 19k and the hundreds of obviously non-renewed PAC (booster club) seats? That is on our AD and her underlings. Cant wait for Benson to get back and come tell President Mark Becker to shape up NOW!

ODU has a tremendous amount of fan support, money and wins games. Big difference compared to Ga State IMO.

RE: Game Day! (GSU vs. SC State 7:30 P.M.)
You didn't move up too fast, but GSU may have created a football program when the time wasn't right. Let me give some insight.

USA had been talking about creating a football program for years and years. Every time the topic came up, it was discussed and determined that the time wasn't right. There were still reservations about this that or the other.

One day, everyone was on the same page and we got the green light.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's my understanding that folks pretty high up in the GSU chain of command (president or AD, I forget which) said something like "GSU will never have a football program" or something. Like a year later, y'all were suiting up. To my understanding these folks are still in charge.

As long as those people who said that are still around, GSU is going to be fighting its own administration in some capacity. They will not want the program to succeed. They may not want it to fail, necessarily, but they aren't going to go out of their way to put effort into it. Just a thought.

If your administration is not behind the program then it is DOOMED to failure.
