After that drive by UK and our offense can't even get out of the endzone. More of the same here, folks. When is baseball season?

You have to pull SK out of the game. If we fall behind, he is not capable of throwing our way back into the game.

Well, I'm just hoping for no injuries and a good check at this point.

Dig deep to find a smile knowing the Zits lost in OT 41-38 to Florida International (house of Pancakes).

Pull Keith. Make a statement now. This offense needs to get a kick in the teeth. We knew he was a gamble, now he's a liability.

The ESPN feed I was watching switched to an old KSU game I have already seen too many times. Enough for me.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
Reality is, other than the defensive stand after the Archer fumble, our defense has been ATROCIOUS tonight. As of typing this post, Kentucky has 518 yards offense and we just haven't provided much resistance. The pressure on the QB has been minimal and our tackling on their big plays was laughable. Tonight was a step backwards considering we should have gone into the half down 14-10.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
This was definitely a disappointing game, especially when it looked like our defense had Kentucky under control in the first half. I'm not the biggest Keith fan but in a way this looks like a game where Kentucky made adjustments and we made none. On offense, we kept trying the dink/dunk passes when they obviously weren't working. On defense, we kept getting obliterated by their outside swing passes, but did nothing to change out scheme/coverage. This seems like a coaching problem to me, which is troubling. In the big scheme of things, losing to Kentucky isn't that big a deal. However, if we can't make in-game adjustments during MAC play we're going to get beat by every team with comparable talent to us and end up finishing 5-7 again, or worse.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
It's beyond amazing how consistently awful Kent plays against teams from BCS conferences. On a night when Louisiana-Monroe knocked off 8th ranked Arkansas, Kent was hammered by a mediocre Kentucky team. And it IS a big deal, because it proves that Kent is a long, long way from being a genuine bowl game contender. You think Kent can get to a bowl by beating Towson and losing all their other non-conference games? Dream on.

Kentville, I don't entirely disagree with you, but let's be honest with ourselves. We missed 2 FG's and had a safety (where Archer slipped and fell in our endzone) and the game just got away from us real quick. We were very much in the game in the middle of the 3rd qtr after we rammed the ball down their throats, scoring a TD to make it 17-14. If we get a couple of breaks or can get a turnover or a key stop, the game could have turned in our favor. Instead, that didn't happen and big uncle MO went their way and that was all she wrote.

The back-breaker was in the 3rd quarter. We had that long drive with the touchdown. Immediately after, what should've been a well rested defense came out and let UK march in for a touchdown. Yea we rammed the ball down their throats, but they returned the favor. That was our mistake.

Well, it really doesn't matter who we beat or who we lose to, a team wins 7 games, and it goes to a bowl.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
File this one under the more things change the more things stay the same. It looked like a Doug Martin coached team. No wait- They looked worse than that, Martin actually won one of those BCS level games. The team looked unprepared for the pace of the game and the coaching staff is responsible.

I don't understand why a week after Kentucky gets run on like crazy and our strength is the running game we open our first series with two passes, get in 2nd and long and end up 3 and out. When our offense was on the field we should have slowed the game way down, run the clock and given the D some rest. Instead we kept trying to get the Keith passing game on track and by the 2nd half the D was spent. What happened to Durham getting 25 rushes a game? There was no way we were going to keep up with an experienced no huddle offense populated by BCS level athletes for an entire game.

This could have been a competitive game, a winnable game with the right game plan and we didn't have one.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
Kentville. You are dreaming if you imagined we would sweep our non-conference slate of Towson, Kentucky, Rutgers and Army. Especially with three of those on the road. I think the best any realistic Kent fan would've hoped for would be 2-2. That, along with 5 MAC wins would put us at 7-5 and in good shape for a bowl. If you were expecting better than that, I guess you haven't been paying attention for the last 30 plus years. As I said in my post, I worry more about the coaching than our talent. We do not have the talent to blow teams out of the water, so we're going to be in close games. Unless Hazel can make better adjustments, and get us to be more consistent on offense, our talent won't be fully utilized, and we'll lose plenty of games we shouldn't.

I just got back from the game, a few thoughts=We played pretty well for about 35 minutes, but thats not good enough against a SEC team. When you go to a game like this in person you really see how much bigger and more athletic their players looked, The SEC is the premier conference right now and even the bottom teams are pretty good. I don't know if it is our offensive philosify or Spencer don't have the confidence but we must take more chances down the field to stretch the defenses. I thought our defense just got worn down the 2nd half, when you have 300 pound o-lineman pounding on our quick but undersized d-line in a fast-break style offense it just took its toll. Although I was hoping for a better showing I still think we will be One of the top 5 teams in the MAC. I am not down on this team, it has a lot of talent but that being said I think all 3 levels must improve as we get into conference play, Offense,Defense, and Coaching.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
Who said anything about a SWEEP? I would just like to see Kent win ONE lousy game against a BCS school. Kent has lost the last twelve such games by an average of nearly 30 pts per game.

Those of you who think this Kent team will win seven (or more) games are truly the ones who are dreaming.

So you think Kent should have beaten Kentucky or any other BCS school, but would be dreaming to win 7 plus games? I'm a little worried about you Kentville. You're not making much sense.

RE: Football 2012--Week 2: Kentucky
I would gladly take BCS losses now if we took care of business in our other non-conference games and did well in the MAC. Most years that would equal a bowl game. In my opinion the best model to look at is OU. The started by losing to BCS teams, winning the MAC East, and losing their bowl game. Last year they broke through and finally won their bowl game, while this year their senior laden team beat Penn State.
